I just wanted this here so i can keep track of what happened when to my festiva. Ill post info and advice if i can for the work iv'e done. You never know when something you didn't think was important might be useful to someone else.
Back in 2009 I was driving my 350z and didn't enjoy paying for gas. I called up a craigslist add for a cheap festiva and i found out it was owned by a friend i went to college with. He gave me a great deal on it at $350. It had 1 working brake, the left front, but i drove it home on the turnpike anyway. Stupid i know, but i didn't want to pay for the Tow.
And here it is, it and me i should say.
Id like to note im 30lbs lighter now, i lost it all in cutting my hair HA.
The Utter Complete selling point for me was this.
Heres some more pics of it.
One of my fav pics of all time
During that winter i ended up braking my drivers handle off, so i used a key ring loop as a handle till i found a replacement.
During the following summer, after the handle was fixed. I thought it would be good to update the stock rims. My parents and i cleaned the rims, then polished the center caps. I wanted an STI at the time, so i figured the festiva was blue. If i paint the rims Gold. Then Bam Sti festiva lol. Didn't make the car awd, but it did add a good bit of bling to it.
Im always looking on craigslist, finding cars and what not and i found and purchased this.
I was very proud to own 2 festiva's especially a turbo one Finally i thought.
Overall it wasn't the quality of build i was used to. It was fast, but the turbo was too big, the lag was too long, and there was a bunch of other issues coming and going. I got tired of putting money into it and sold it off.
I drove the first one for a while. Fixing other things, cleaning all the interior. Adding a new Head unit and speakers and then i got to this mileage.
While searching for a new project on craigslist i found someone who wanted to trade there 2000 VR6 Jetta 5 Speed for a Festiva. I was all over that considering i had many other vw's and enjoyed them.
Unfortunately i did the trade....
This Picture was taken the day i traded it.
I Got this tho.
And about a week later i was doing this.
The water pump went. What a Crap job.
A bunch of other cars came and went
But finally i found a festiva next to my new work for sale. It was driven by an older man who couldn't drive stick anymore. For $675 i couldn't pass it up.
It was stock other than a kenwood head unit, but the old type. The cassette type.
The car had around 70k miles when i bought it. Its been over a year of owning it and i love it.
Got sick of the old shift knob with no logo and when from this
to this
To this finally
I love the feel of the GTI shift knob, and yes i know the pattern is wrong on it.
Decided to be a little...i don't know. Spontanious.
Deffinately got a lot of looks... My wife likes them tho lol.
Installed a new Kenwood Head unit, and Kicker 4" speakers. "Don't buy 4" kicker speakers they are junk"
The head unit is great, just junk speakers. They will be replaced soon.
Then some more goodies came along.
14" rims and
FMS lowering springs with KYB-2 Sturts
I love the rims and tires, just don't like the Scuffs, gouges, and color. So i did this.
All painted up now, just waiting to install.
While waiting for the rims to dry, along with the weather. I used this. Bumper Restorer. It does fade over time. But for 7$ its a pretty good deal.

Next update will have At least the Rims and Tires on.
