hey guys. so im getting pretty serious with my mods to my aspire. i have done about too much maintainence work in the last month, so hopefully i just get to do fun stuff from here on out. glad it was all just normal replacement from high mileage parts. heres what ive changed out so far
1. kia rio front suspension
2. exedy clutch
3. water pump (boy was that a learning experience)
4. alternator (learned that the belt needs to be tighter than you think it should be)
5. tires (i didnt personally do this)
6. when i first bought the car i built a very interesting designed "header" for it out of conduit piping, but i did get me to a steady 38 summer mpg, could tell the torque curve was different than stock, dont like it very much.
7. filled my trany motor mounts with window weld (thought it would fix my cars violent shaking from take off, turned out being the clutch)
8. i built my own muffler!!! i think it sounds pretty cool
9. built a dome light with high power led lights
10. redid the little coolant collector pipe that combines the baby line from the block by the coolant temp sensor and heater core, clear up to the water pump intake, thing was leaking by that little baby coolant line.
11. rigd up my tail lights so that my rear window defrost heater button turns them on, car kept randomly blowing the fuse that went to that and my instrument panel lights, still dont have instrument panel lights...but this doesnt bother me too terribly much.
here what i have planned out for the future
1. im to build a turbo manifold for the girl that will place the turbo over where the stock air box is originally, i think it would make the turbo a little more visually friendly. i plan on doing some low boost levels with a 3000gt turbo and stock wastegate. and ill set up some version of a homemade water/meth injection system for it. im still in the works of designing a linear flow regulator to ramp up the water meth injection proportionate to the boost level.
2. mill head about 20 thousandths, and install a new cometic mls head gasket.
3. head work while the head is off, maybe a small port job, nothing too flow since i desire port velocity for low end torque.
4. i want to use some rebar and weld in onto my trany bottom plate, the thing the mounts go into, to stiffen it up a bit. pictures of that to come.
