I will gladly give a $50 bill to ANYONE who can prove 266hp at the wheel, out of a B3 with 8lbs of boost. The math is not there. There is NO WAY. Prove me wrong. (No nitrous)
Please don't start that again. I heard Matt say over a phone call he got 266hp TO THE WHEELS before he gave up because of lack of REAL interest and posts like that one. No offense intended, and no I don't have a dyno slip or vids or anything, but that is what he said.
Can we just enjoy the build here?
Any difference that makes no difference is no difference.
If people are just gunna bash this build, then those posts will start disappearing
Everytime someone talks about building a B3, others start bashing it and take it too far because they dont believe the potential numbers and it pisses me off to see it, let people enjoy their build, period!!

If no one from the future stops you from doing it, how bad of a decision can it really be?

Build it for you.
People have opinions and the ones who voice the most negativity are usually the same who never contribute anything worthwhile. So their opinions really have zero value. So why bother with anything of no value.

Building a project is for the fun and thrill of doing just that; building a project! Whether its a B3 or a LSX. Build it, enjoy it, and take pride in it.
I am glad to see your project coming along. Working with you was a pleasure. I am sorry that your thread is being mucked up by people who can't appreciate that some of us are not lazy & there is a sense of accomplishment that comes from hard work. Like HP to an engine, a man is rated by the work he can put out, I suspect some of you are putting out low numbers. I see many of you rely to greatly on numbers & equations. Years ago I built a 4.6L for a customer that dynoed 660 HP on an engine dyno. We then added twin 76mm turbos & reached nearly 2600 HP. Do the math on that. It frustrates me to see the guys who do the coolest stuff on here get the most crap! Again Jeremy, looking forward to seeing your progress. If you need anything, just call. HAVE FUN!
I TOTALLY forgot this was a knitting forum, not a forum for people that are addicted to a little car that hasn't been on the market for 20 years... My $50 stands. Lighten up people. I didn't call names, or point fingers, I was just wondering where the thought process was.
Matt: What inspired you to do this to a B3 the first time? What are your thoughts on doing this kind of work to a B6 or a BP even? (The entire reason I said anything was, I'm looking to do a B6 which is very much the same as a B3, and I was wondering if these parts are going to be an option for a B6. That's why I was wondering why you started with a B3)
I love you guys! I love the passion of the build. I love building a B3, I'm jealous I don't have the know-how to do this stuff to an engine, or the $$$ to have a good mechanic do this to my engine.
My inspiration is simple, I performed some work a few years ago on an engine of a forum member. I joined the forum just to watch his progress. I saw some potential in the engine & decided to see if there would be a need for performance parts. I would gladly produce products for the B6, BP or any other engine for that matter if someone contacted me about it. The ONLY engine that I have eve been contacted about was the B3 & so that is the route I went. There are members in this forum who understand that you can only bolt on so much power & that at some point you have to crack open the engine. All I see is ones slamming other members for going with the B3. I have even talked with members on the phone who have said that they don't even post their desire to build up their B3 because they are afraid of being bullied by other members. I have talked to many who would rather have a built 100HP B3 than a stock 124 BP & I tend to agree. Who is anyone to ridicule any other member for what they do??? Is this an "open" forum or "you can be a member as long as you do what I do" forum??? I have built engines for many race teams & often accompany them to the track to assist in tuning engine & chassis set ups & I must say I have never scrounged through a junkyard between rounds searching for more power. There is no right or wrong way to go & I just assist people in meeting their performance goals, no matter what it is. I am not restrained by narrow minded thinking & mathematical equations. I GET RESULTS! There are laws of physics that are constant & never change & there are others that can be manipulated. This is what I get paid to do. Just because some can't wrap their head around it doesn't mean a thing to me. I love it when people say "work SMARTER not HARDER". That phrase dose NOT apply to this. Maybe I was born 100 years late, but I would rather die 10 years early knowing I worked hard everyday of my life then live a long life with bleach white skin & soft hands. I hope this thread can return to its intent of Jeremy simply sharing with others his hard work.
Gabe - ive watched almost every one of Matt's B3 thread turn into a "why not build a..... Instead?" and then the thread goes to hell from there, turns into flame wars and totally loses its original purpose, that's why I have no patience for that crap anymore

There's Gabe, I know you are passionate about your car or you wouldn't be on this forum. Thanks for understanding that there has just been ALOT of negative feedback when Matt first started his b3 build and that was the reason he stopped on the forum. When I first contacted Matt I just had questions on if I was to turbo what kind of things I would need to do to my engine when I build it cuz I was over 200,000 miles and a little low on compression in 2 cylinders.... Well I ended up on the phone with him one night for 2 hours almost taking about my engine... Matt is a great guy and loves to tech people about engines and what they can do.
There's Gabe, in response to the question about your b6 he will build anything, he actually has answered a few people on his Facebook about the b6, and bp and said he can build them also. But the reason he is building the b3 is the majority of us on this forum like our dd and the mpg we get out of them. So he is taking the engine we already have and building the crap out of it and still seeing 40 mpg. You can build whatever motor you want, and yes if you do the same to a b6 or bp you will see better numbers because it's larger displacement... Thats a well known fact, but if you start with a car that has a b3 in it you would have to buy that junkyard motor modify your engine bay for it to fit, get a tyranny that will handle the power, and spend the money to have it built to the hilt. Matt would be more than happy to do that for anybody, but right now he is offering a b3 that is capable up to 266 hp on a mild tune... Which is insane and I think more power then any of us could have dreamed in a festiva.
So my point here (very long point... Lol) yes you can build your b6t and Matt will do anything you want and be straight forward with you. So go have fun with whichever motor it is you decide to use
Thanks guys. I knew there would be some flaming going on... Its Ok cuz there is a lot of people on here who are excited to see what's gonna happen with these b3 builds and I think it will inspire others to build what they have already in there car. I'm always doing things opposite the popular way so im kinda used to being flamed... Lol, but I think There's Gabe understands what we're saying just has a hard time believing it.
Matt thank you for being a part of our forum and doing the hard work you do, I know the there is a lot of us who do appreciate it.
Damkid thank for mediating I definetly didn't want the thread getting out of hand.... But I think it's okay I think people are going to enjoy watching some of these b3 builds. Now the only problem is I'm out of money and gonna have to save up to Come to one of the big meets cuz everybody is gonna wanna see what the built b3 can do.

THANK YOU for this response. This was ALL I was asking for. LOL. I'm excited to see what you get out of this build!

I didn't know that... I didn't mean to continue on the the "Why not build a..." tradition. I am usually pretty clear when I am flaming LOL (You know that) This simply wasn't the case on this one.
So here's my question that's actually related to the thread
We all know that the stock trans is made of crystal glass and shatters very easy, if your gunna make good power through a B3, any thoughts/plans for trans mods/upgrades?
