    • Here is a good question for everybody since there is alot of people paying attention to this right now. im going to be painting while i build, cuz now is the time to do it, i want to eventually do the exterior of my car a chesnut metallic brown and wrap my wheels in a carbon fiber orange vinyl (why? because i can.. and it will make my car stick out..lol) so i kinda wanted the engine to stay within the colors of the scheme of the car. So i was thinking the chrysler hemi orange engine paint... but is that like total sacreligous cuz its a ford/mazda/kia? I looked at the ford orange but its very red.

      • Paint is paint. Do what you like! Yank the valve cover, wrap it in aluminum foil, and paint it the color you want. Stick it on the top of the engine, stand back, and see if the color looks good. If it does, cool! If not, it's easy clean up and you haven't wasted a bunch of time re-priming etc.

          • Match your wheels as close as you can. Who cares what factory orange you have to use. It's your car. Most people probably won't even tell. I doubt if you popped the hood some one would just go off in a rant to you about how you used a Dodge orange on a Ford car!

              • theres nothing that is wrong when you are doing something you enjoy. and chances are most people wouldnt know whether a cars paint color was from a specific make/model. unless its an automotive painter. i would try and match my color scheme with the color you choose for the body. if you paint the body orange match the color on your engine, and then use that same color to match on the interior. pick a main color then a secondary color. the main color will look nice all over and the secondary color would be used to breakup the color inbetween places and parts where you want definition. but yet again all this is just my opinion. everyone has their own ideas so if people suggest some ideas take what you want from everyones ideas and discard the rest because ultimately it is all about what you would like personally.

                  • Yeah, ascents on the interior and engine bay should match your orange wheels if you asked me. The main color. Brown would be good for body, engine, seats, main interior trim. Orange would be good for wheels, valve cover, other smaller ascent on the interior.

What does 'kissing a pig' have to do with upgrading a B3? Not to knock your wheels but remind your this is a "B3" forum.

                            • Drumnerd, one of the things that I like to do while searching themes is to look at the Exotics and the VIP rides. I thoroughly agree with rmoltis on the color scheme setup. Personally, I would keep the orange to a minimum. Here the college colors are orange and white (sometimes purple), and many of the custom interiors that I see disgust me. If you have an orange tach cluster and a black-faced, amber-display stereo (think BMW), that's enough orange inside, with the exception of the vent handles, plastic seat piping, dome light switch, and visible, orange triple-stitching on the door card fabric. Instead of painting your rear plastics, use vinyl and/or faux suede to give the interior a much-needed boost in "quality appearance" while matching them to your door cards. Heating subwoofer box carpeting with a heat gun will help it to contour to your rear plastics and improve the overall appearance of your cargo area. Be careful when you do that, though. I look forward to seeing your finished product.

Here are an interior setup I thought might be cool:

                              • yes my 88 is an lx (which i scored for 400 bucks) it has amber gauges and all my after market gauges i also got in amber, my door cards are crap and need redone i was thinking about doing the pvc sheet and cut it to fit my door card then wrap it in the same vinyl i am gonna use to do my wheels. so the door cards would be orange carbon fiber. and then do black sparco seats, and i also have the tan interior which is cool but sucks cuz cant ever find any spare parts for it. i was thinking use the vinyl wrap for the speedo surround and stereo surround but i dont know if that would be too much orange like you said i want it to have a much needed "nice" update but dont want it over board.
