Well when i pulled the valve cover first thing i was looking for was to see if the hla were collapsing, well that was not the case, they were pumped up but what i noticed is i had play.. as in i could move the rocker up and down on the valve stem, so i got the feeler gauges out and had around .034 of gap between hla and valve stem, and no i am not using shims matt made my valve stems longer to make up for the extra lift. So i pulled one rocker arm off and removed one of the hla's and mesured the pumped up length and gave that number to matt and he is gonna see if that matches the new ones he has at the shop, what we are wondering is if the extra spring rate has damaged the hla's because matt double and triple checked that the hla's were tight with no gap. Also i put one in the vice to make sure it wasnt seized, and it did move and pushed the oil out then was able to squeeze by hand... so that tells me they are pumping up just fine. Yes the rocker arm is fully seated in fact matt had it all built and ready when he shipped it to me, thats why hes confused as to what happened and why there is a gap now...its just not making any sense. Tomorrow im gonna get my uncles dial gauge and check to see what the gaps on all the valves are at.
Matt suggested autolite xp 3924 plugs they are platinum and he said platinum is better for high compression, i did not know that but fine by me cuz they last like forever.
