  • Hmm, well that just sucks then. You've made me rethink making solid lifter rollers now. The plain ones are probably lighter too, and nearly nothing to go wrong with them being totally solid hunks of metal/s.

Any difference that makes no difference is no difference.

    • Yeah and getting the cam ground to be aggressive is hard cuz the cam is weak and that's why the rollers dug into it... Matt had mine hardened also so that obviously didn't help it. And those rollers aren't built to handle a steep ramp on the cam so I'm kinda thinking that's what caused it, but can't say for sure.

        • I got everything back from Matt, all valves were bent so all new valves, and new cam with the same grind he had on his. Built the head and was putting it altogether but the intake gasket was torn, so ordered one and they never called me so I called and they sent it back....Grrrrr so I just ordered it off of Amazon so it comes straight to me.

Makes a person wonder, what could be gleaned-for a far more modest B3; from this type of full-on massage?

This is my first read through, so perhaps later in the thread someone will go in that direction...

                • Is the new cam the same as the one that he originally made for the motor or is it a different profile?

                    • No this cam is more extreme then the roller cam I had before. This cam is the same profile he used on his engine that put out 265 horse with the turbo

                      • This is the first time I have read this thread. It took me a long time to go through it from the beginning until now. Unbelievable patience. You have inspired me to go for the finish line on my build. I still have a few small things left to do before Ohiostiva. All I can say about your build is one word. Amazing. Did you ever install that MSD blaster coil? The reason I am asking is because I have the same one.

                        • Ok. What kind of power do you expect from this cam?

                          • I will gain a small amount of hp but I will gain a decent amount of torque and it will broaden my torque band, my old cam was great but it would fall on its face about 5 grand, This new cam has a larger lobe separation so the torque curve is high and flat and will continue climbing after redline

Yes it will! Since I have the same cam.
