If you're looking for a hill climber, wouldn't you want AWD instead?

Ok guys bought a white board to write a list of all the parts/mods that I need to do to the 121. It has also managed to get itself a spot in the workshop with all the fast cars. So lets see what we can get figured out for the car and get started on the big list of mods. Will take plenty of pics as parts arrive .

That's awesome I need to start looking at b series engines then well I'd better start reading away then hahaha.
I've been cleaning and driving the Mazda as much as possible over the last week . Got to admit though I'm having an absolute blast tearing about in the little beast.

Why just one carby? I added twin Laser carbies, power steering, A/C and cruise to mine. Afterwards, you can add, power windows, power locks and don't forget the Escort gear mod for the rear wiper.

Well that's news to me haha. The car itself has a full service history and was always garaged so the it's in very good condition apart from some minor fading on the shades stickers.

started a topic Potta's hillclimb challenger

    Potta's hillclimb challenger

Ok so here goes guys my first foray into a small car. I'm so excited and happy with my purchase.
Ok so here goes I bought the car from a family friend who didn't drive the car so she wanted it gone as she had bought a new car with power steering. So a deal was struck and once I saw the little white beast I knew it was destined for more than just getting milk.

The car itself is a 1990 mazda 121 with 160 odd thousand klms. So we towed it home and over a few beers with the dog I finally decided what to do with her.
I currently race a bigger hp car that is somewhat a far too serious car for the street so I decided to make the 121 into the all rounder . So it will serve as hooligan and mountain run duties and hopefully will use it in the last few rounds of the local hillclimb series. Then if all goes well and I'm happy it will compete in the full season next year.

    Here she is.

After getting it home I pulled off all the guards , door seals , grill , wheels and put it up on stands for a full degrease and clean off all the road grime.

The super tidy original interior. lol never thought I'd be excited to see a tape deck.

Ok so here is where my first bout of parts ordering will begin.
Going to order some team dynamics 15x7 wheels still a bit unsure of what offset to get so any help would be great guys.
These are a purpose built rally wheels with Venturi suction to cool the brakes also.

The Honda short shifter and fix all the slop in the gear linkages (remove all the old bushes and go to bolt setup) .

Will also be going with a pedal box and some spare sparco I seats I have laying around.

I have also ordered a new set of slotted rotors and pads for the front but would like to do a disk conversion to the rear end but have no idea what car to get the parts from. So more searching it is.

Have also begun making a set of strut braces for the car but still unsure of what cool overs to get as all I'm reading a lot of mixed responses on what actually fits but no definitive answer. Would love to stay with tein as they sponsor my other car so I can get some very lucrative discounts.

Does anyone know if any companies make a fia or cams approved rollcage for the 121/festiva ? I would much rather buy one than have to make one myself.

Thanks for reading boys and girls.
