Another productive afternoon . I got all the tow points painted red and have the required tow point stickers to go above them now. Also gave the inside of the guards a good scrub and I must say they came up pretty well.

Also got the short shifter fitted up and I must say what a difference it has made to the drive. I put the shift knob on that it came with but I will most likely go back to the standard one as this one feels a bit odd. I also put all new bolts in the shift linkages and retensioned them all to take up the slack a bit.

Going to grab a superpro bush to go in the shifter arm rubber mounting. It's all measured up.
Very happy with the difference it's made today.

They sell slotted Festiva rotors over there?! Wonder how long.that thin metal is going to last since somebody cut slits in it Haha.

I bet you warp them your first time out flogging the car lol

Those are really nice looking wheels! You can get bigger vented rotors in 4x114 pattern to keep the stock bolt pattern, NA capri has 9.3" 4x114 that work with a 13" wheel, if you have bigger rims 14" or better go for xr2 brakes....when the time comes

So prior to spending big on wheels, you should decide on what brakes you'll be running.

Automatic wb festiva front brakes seem to be the best choice if you intend on running 13" wheels.
Yeah I was going to do a brake upgrade but I've got a set of new slotted rotors , R spec pads and also making braided lines up tonight . so ill give these a go for now. If all goes well ill keep them but can always upgrade later.

    This happened today lol.
Word got out I was after some rubber so my buddy who runs a tire shop hooked me up with these super lite 14x6 with toyo sport something tires so I'm pretty pumped with today's haul.
(I'm building his motor so a special deal was struck).

lol no it's a hsv ,clubsport r8. They do limited build spec cars which are built from the Holden commodore.
Which is sold all over the world as the Chevy lumina , Pontiac g8 , vauxhall vxr etc. Holden designs and builds the cars here in Australia. Then a lot are sent off for export around the world.
Although mine is very far from stock nowadays haha.

So the festiva is purely to keep me building/developing something that's a cheap bit of fun that isn't going to cost me 1.5k every time I take it out. There's a lot of smaller events that I would like to do that aren't in my budget. So for the price of a few sets of tires for the big car I will have something else to play with. Yes I probably could have gotten an awd car but I sadly fell unloved with the 121 so I'm going to do my best to make it happen haha.

Strangely enough, I haven't scaled it ever. I have the scales, just never took the time. If I were to guess I'd say 1650 lbs total with 480fl , 470fr, 350/350 rear. I just set it by feel and tire temp. I'll weigh it the next time I have it at the track.

Ah the Capri has a b6 in it too. Well that makes my life alot easier those things are dirt cheap over here.
Thanks so much for all the info guys. I'm pretty nifty on the welder (welder by trade). So am still going over the pics of the front end mods but ill be able to fabricate something up.
I've also been enjoying reading how you fella's are able to setup a fwd car.
I've never done a small car before so half of what guys say makes me go wtf does that mean. But it's all good I'm getting there slowly.
To dynamix have you weighed your car to see how your actually weighted over the front and rear axle?
I have already begun measuring up the guards so that I can modify them as much as possible to fit the biggest rubber available . For the moment though I have scored a set of 13x6 alloy wheel +30 offset. So will put on some new rubber. I can't keep the 12" tires either they have pretty much fallen to pieces and its nearly impossible to get those tires over here.
These were $20 by the way lol so ah yeah cut me some slack.

I've been a bit unsure of tire wear also on the little weapon so am still sitting on the fence on that. I've also heard that I may have tire restrictions on the class ill be racing in so need to look at that too.

Best way to get a b6t here in Sydney is to buy an old tx3 or Capri turbo.
I bought my Capri for $700.
I bought a second reco block and head with some random internals from fordlaser.com

Very easy to come across either way.
But by having the whole car you've got the entire car with all the bits you might want.

I'm tempted to buy a mx5 or late model laser/323 b6 head. They have a more aggressive exhaust cam from what I'm told. Easier than machining one.

One last thing. You may be able to build a B6t cheaper and faster than trying to locate an entire engine. Most of the bits are the same as 1.6 miata. The stock turbo and intake manifold are limiting factors and your better off with a programable management than using factory stuff. You are going to want to be able to rev to around 8K rpm, and the stock B6t externals will make this a chore. If you start with a Miata block and head (most miata guys don't want the 1.6 so they are very cheap) then you can upgrade the internals and go with a custom turbo header and intake manifold. I am going to build a long tube turbo header that locates the turbo behind the engine so I can move the engine even further forward without melting the grill and bumper.
Hope this all helps, sorry for the multiple posts. Glad to see another member with similar goals (there are a few of us on here). We have a road racing thread that has a lot of this info in it as well. It's in the racing forum.
