Thank you sir! I've not done very much of this kind of work but I'm learning as I go. Hopefully the results will be good.

I appreciate all the encouraging comments. Just proves, again, what a supportive community we have here on ff.com!

A bit more progress this evening. I hope to install the refurbished hatch tomorrow night...

Painted this bit of trim too...

I'll be doing mostly clean up and polishing the shiny bits. Oil change and A/C recharge too before we head for Westiva on Saturday morning.

Thanks again Greg. I'm using single stage paint in the OEM color... Hot Red code E5. The paint was still a bit wet when I took the picture which may explain some of the shininess. I haven't been out to the garage yet today so who knows if it's still as shiny I'm hoping to get this installed tonight in time for Westiva.

It looks beautiful. Where did you get the hot red e5.

Picked it from a local body shop supplier. They mixed it and put in spray cans while I waited. Match is really good too.

So that's a rattle can paint job? Wow I would have never thought. It looks really good.

Not much to add but we've come up with the beginnings of a plan to get things moving towards a happy ending.

We're going to take any parts we need from this car...

                            ... to get this car...

                            roadworthy so this car...

can go in the garage over the winter for some body work and a heart transplant.

The white one will be the winter driver this year while the work gets done on the red one. Once the B6T car is done the white car will become the daily driver for the younger kids, whom some of you met at FMV.

I'm in the process of cleaning up the garage, wiring up the 220V ceiling mounted heater and new-to-me mig welder, and generally organizing things.
