Dude your making awesome progress! Love that yellow it turned out nice!

All used pistons ive seen have skirt scratches. As long as its not rough or gouged it will be fine. They cleaned up pretty nice! I used dawn power dissolver and mine came out spotless. I'm gonna try a couple in the untrasonic cleaner next.

Did you shave the head or just get a standard mill job?

He said he just made it straight. There is now a 900 stamped in the bottom. I didn't have a chance to ask him exactly what he did because I had to go get me daughter. Im assuming that's how much was taken off?

mine cleaned up pretty good. There was still some crap in the valve recesses but im sure it will burn off.

        Edit:

I guess it could be 006 that probably makes more sense.

          Sooo mooorrreee progress!

          Started out with this.

Did a little of this. Yes that's the kitchen table. Perks of being a bachelor I guess. My garage was hot.

All done and set on the block

Got it bolted down to 60ftlbs.

Set the valve cover on to protect it from the dust.

          One more glamour shot

Well not so glamorous. Im really happy with the results.

Tomorrow ill fix my injector harness.

Thanks for that advice!! Im glad you caught that!

          Man im getting excited.

Should I dump oil all over the valves before I attach the cover. How do I prime the oil pump? I've used so much assembly lube lol

Last question for now. Why won't my stupid dipstick tube come out. Im seconds from smashing this old oil pump.

Yellow and black. Bumble bee engine. Does it sting?

                Thanks for the compliments!

A little motivational photo for me.

I don't have my daughter tonight or this weekend so it's my goal to get it all finished.

All the main stuff is done. There are random pieces I still need to get but nothing major, thermostat, plugs, assorted hoses that I just cut out of anger, the hoses that went to the heater would just not come off lol. Oh well.

I also plan on cleaning up the engine bay some. Someone suggested I paint it black but eh. I think the red will contrast the yellow nicely. Still reminds me of a caterpillar engine.

I also noticed when I was putting the head on that stupid spring from the camshaft oil seal fell off. So I decided instead of taking it all apart that I would just buy a new one. Then I would just push it through cut it off and install the new one.

                        Moar progress.

I got my injector harness all fixed up. I appreciate the help.

Then I installed the intake the throttle body is just sitting there for the photo right now. One of the coolant hoses disintegrated as I pulled it off earlier this week. Oh noes. Oh well. I read I didn't even really need it that it was just for throttle icing. Id like to have it on there anyways.

                        Anyways. Here is a photo.

If I have learned anything it is I will never take this apart while drinking again. Im having a heck of a time finding bolts. You can tell when I was sober because the parts are in little baggies labeled. Then, there are random piles of bolts scattered across the garage. My filling system maybe made sense when I was drinking, but now. No idea.

Maybe you need to get drunk again to find the other bolts lol. Looks good!

It is! Not.... im just crossing my fingers that they will fire correctly. I checked them with the multimeter but only time will tell.

So progress tonight. I got this little gem today.

Then I got it all put on. I rented the tools I needed from az to get that bearing on then tapped it in with my mega screwdriver. I was careful to only hit the outer rim.

This is how it sits now.

While putting on the trans it wasn't going in again! It got to the same place then refused togo in further. It ended up being the little tabs that go into the trans to line it up as suggested before! I used a large pair of pliers to squeeze it together and no more problems. Maybe it was the over spray from the paint? Either way it's on now.

I got the starter cleaned up and bolted up. I also pressure washed the cross member. It was chipped and scraped and a little rusty. I ended up painting it a nice flat black with the rust killing paint. When it dried I got that bolted in too. Im waiting for my axles that should be here tomorrow.

                                A couple questions.

First off is it easier to drop it in with the rear trans bracket on the trans or on the cross member. Im assuming its easier with it on the trans because there is one bolt as opposed to trying to line up two bolt holes and spidermaning your way under there to figure it out.

Second. To get the axles in.

My plan is to get the engine bolted in then pull off the wheels one at a time and putting the axles in. Take one side apart put the axle in then bolt it all back together and repeat on second side.

If anyone knows an easier way please let me know.
