When I looked at the factory welds inside that Aspire manifold I just shook my head. Never seen anything as counterproductive as that before and presumed that some conscientious Kia or Mazda engineer (who'd also seen that) concocted more efficient cam/valve rockers in order to counter that mess so as still be able to say the engines were equally fuel efficient. 2 hours of careful grinding is not a waste of time when you're aiming for 'state of the art' but when it has to be done in order to mimic parts that were mass produced a few years before it all gets rather embarrassing.
I see your point...its a newer car. But there's examples of that everywhere. Motor mounts are s*** from the factory on a brand new mazdaspeed 3...at least theyll be cooked at 20k miles. I know a MX3 doesnt have 280 ft/lbs but at least their mounts seem to last..how hard is it to engineer a solid hunk of rubber?
I was talking to a friend of mine and his father is part of an engineering firm. They were testing a Pre-production Toyota Supra out in Alberta in the snow and after 72 hours of testing nothing broke...except for his dad slamming the hatch and the pin inside broke.
They engineered a titanium unit...Toyota included it in all Supras.
Why cant Mazda take a page? Our freakin' hatch spoilers rattle when you close the hatch like its fastened with duct tape.
Rio mount and some bent 1/4 inch galv steel. Solid front mount! Gonna throw a U clamp around the bolt to keep it from opening up until I can have it welded.

Was you car an auto converted to manual? Kinda want to say the 2 prong connector is for a tranny sensor but might be for the iac? Make sure the relays on the driver fender are hooked up and fuel lines are right!
It almost started! Lol but the battery doesnt have enough charge...Ive got my booster pack charging and ill try again tomorrow. Ive got a white 6 pin connector dangling under the dash...dont see anything under there that it could connect to.
