    • Thanks! Will do! Your engine bay doesn't look to bad. I bet it'll come clean. Post up some pictures and start a garage thread as you go.

        • hi hitrofarm, hi Advancedynamix.....thanks for your reply's..yeah, after seeing how nice pedro's engine compartment looked, i had to get in there with some elbow grease and try a little harder lol..i used 'simple green'..as suggested by Advancedynamix..it seemed to do the trick :cat:

...if you'll notice, i also used 'pam' cooking spray on the bumpers to get them black again, and looking a bit cleaner..they were looking grey and faded....i read about the the 'pam' trick on the net..idk if you have heard of it..you just spray it on the bumper, and rub the pam onto the bumper...idk how long it will last though...my bumpers do look newer and better..if you guys know of any other tricks to restore the bumper's color, let me know thanks...

          • Black, your mention and use of Pam made me recall that when my Blue92 was new, I had heard on a radio show that Pam on cv boots extended the life. I sprayed mine to the point of having it dripping and they lasted until replaced last year at about 22 years/ 165 k. Although there had been some cracking on the surface, no tears at all. Let us know how long the bumper treatment lasts. I tried some Back to Black last year and it looked great to begin with but only lasted a couple of weeks before quickly beginning to look crappy again.

            • "Round these Parts" we use the Pam to keep the Racoons from sticking to the bumpers.WD-40 also is an excellent plastic cleaner/preserver.

              • Mothers makes a product called "Back to black" and it works great. It may require several applications, but once you get them black they will stay black for a long time.

                • Back to Black can be found at Autozone and yes several will last for several years.

                  • thanks for all you reply's...i have never heard of the trick to spray your cv boots with pam, but i'll give that a try as well..there is something about the oils in pam that restore the color..some people have tried peanut butter lol..yes, its the peanut oil as well that rejuvenates the bumpers ...i'll also report back, and let everyone know just how long the pam spray lasts on the bumpers of my car..i also looked up a study they had of competing trim restorers, and none of them seemed to last more then 70 days or 10 car washes..

however, a few here have said that 'back in black' can last years, and if you watch the promo video on youtube about 'back in black', the one rep says that if you apply 2 coats, it can last up to 7 years..!...now, i cant even believe that, but if you want to see the video:

New and improved Forever BLACK™ Bumper & Trim Reconditioner Gel permanently re-colors and protects all black plastic, vinyl & rubber surfaces on your vehicle...

it looks like it goes on kind of like a paint..idk, from what i have seen, none of them will last forever, but some better then others....

                    • This thread has kind of been hijacked by this now, but I'll give one final trick. I you wipe the bumpers really good with Lacquer thinner and then apply the Back to Black, it will work even better. The lacquer thinner removes some of the oxidation.

                        • Your welcome. I'm pretty bad about staying on topic, so I can't fault you for it. Lol. I like to moisten a microfiber towel with lacquer thinner and sort of buff the plastic with it. You'll see results quickly.

                          • Chris texted me this picture today. It's raining in San Diego, and his wife prefers they drive Tweak in the rain because it gets much better traction than their B3 festy. This brings a smile to my face. Gotta love it when a car with 3 times the factory TQ is easier to drive in the rain than an unmodified version. Both cars have the same suspension and tires (softer front springs on the B3 car.) It's all in that weight forward design with the strengthened front lower rad support. What would the world be like if Ford gave us a Festiva RS like Tweak?
