I hate to be the one to inform you but at least you haven't got to far. That Tranny has a 28 spline diff, you wont have axles to fit. Unless you know something I don't. If so please enlighten me.
Here is a list of axle's and diff etc that you can use for reference. AXLE CHEAT SHEET post # 20 is the current list. Good Luck, and please let me know if you found some way around the 28 splines. NITRO-

well i finally found me another kia transmission, damn their hard to find it took me 5 jy's and about 300 miles of travel to find one, i found one at the pull-a-part in akron ohio can't beat $75 for a manual tranny. i also bought the intermediate shaft and some of the tranny mounts, and if the kia spectra hubs will fit that will take care of my spline issue they have the same lug pattern as an aspire but use 14 inch tires

one of the thing other than the axles that i was worreing about if my speedometer working because the kia used a electronic spedo well it turns out the the kia engineers got lazy when they made the speedo sensor

kia sensor left , festiva on right

kia just made an adapter for the older style speedo cable well screw it it helps me out the festiva speedo cable screws right on

If you spend enough time in a salvage yard with a bunch of old Mazda/Ford axles you may find a combo that works and be able to make your own custom axles. For instance, I found that I can use the inner CV joints from a 4 cylinder mx6 on my Capri xr2 or XR2 swapped festiva. This is helpful because the 6 ball inner joints are much easier to find from MX6/626/probe.

Just read this whole thread. First of all, nice work so far! I like your fuse box especially.
Second, what is broken on your original tranny? Is it just that the spider gears flopped and you took it apart and can't figure out how it goes back together?
Since you have the diff out from your first tranny, you could compare it to a g series Mazda diff. If you're lucky, it's a match and you could use an escort gt/Capri or 4 cylinder 626/mx6/probe diff and Rio axles.

the first tranny died after i broke something while putting it back together, i like your idea about switching the diffs but i'd be afraid to take my newer tranny apart
