This will likely be the slowest build ever. I'm mainly just trying to make it look and
run cleaner, but I work Monday through Saturday and don't own a garage, large
compressor or welder so pretty much Sunday is the only time I ever have to get
anything fixed as long as it doesn't require those tools.
The car:
So, I've actually owned this Festiva for over a year and never considered fixing
it up. Then I sold my blue one a while back and missed having a nice Festiva...even
if I never really fixed or drove the blue one much so I decided to see if I could make
this one any better. Over the past few weeks I've been looking around junkyards,
ordering small parts online, buying paint and thinking of stuff to fix.
I plan to get the engine back into nice running shape. No mods, just repairs. New
seals and gaskets and whatnot. That stuff will come a bit later though. For now
I'm coming up with ideas and junking up my home office with car stuff.
Dreams and aspirations:
Exterior -
Aspire rear beam?
Kia Rio struts / knuckles / brakes in front
Finish painting if it will ever quit raining (Later I will sand the entire car to either primer or bare metal and respray it all)
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Interior:
Parts I currently have waiting to go on the car:
Hatch light
New arm rests
Newer console
Newer A/C controls
12v Plug in hatch
Escort dome light
Cargo light in hatch
Tach cluster with LED's
Door handles and window cranks
Cleaner back seat cover on back seats
Power inverter and stereo in console box
New weather stripping (where applicable)
Cup holder mod from Taurus back in and replace bezel with newer one
Parts I need or things I need to do:
Fix wiper wobble
Clean up door vinyls
Find intermittent wiper switch
Find a clock that could work and make it fit
Repaint pillar plastic trim to something other than an almost tan
Repaint all back plastics with stone paint like William did...his looks nice.
Simple sound deadening (matting in trunk and ceiling and possibly butyl)
Find used good condition seats from something else or preferably good Festiva seats
Heavier duty trunk (not masonite next time, but probably wood to support more weight with no spare tire in there)
--------------------------------------------
Mechanical -
Parts I have:

Rear main seal
Front main seal
Timing belt
Timing belt idler
Timing belt tensioner

New timing belt covers w/ gaskets
New vent louvers into dash

I'm sure there's plenty of parts and things to do that I forgot to list here, but
since I cant edit it later I guess this'll be a good start
