Thought id start a build to keep up with my work on my 88 ford festiva.
I bought this car from kevin shankle after john cavin told me there was one local for sale. Took me over 3 weeks of tracking shankle down and i made the purchase.

I believe i paid 700$.
It was a 88 ford festiva with a 1.3 stock carb set up. 4 speed manual.
First thing i did was tackle the front wheel bearings and cv axles.

Well i sure as dang tackled this project.
With a lil help from the forum i got both front new rotors and bearings packed and back together.
Well when i went to remove the cv axle on the driver side i used a slide hammer and it didnt work,so i got 2 pry bars and a hammer. Well before i got to wack the cv axle with a hammer i freakin cracked the transmission case under the cv axle and it was clearly a problem so i added fluid and sure enough it poured out of crack.... Death of my 4 speed.
This is when i called around and found a replacement 4 speed woth 199k on it for 260$
So i put a 40$ deposit on it so they would pull it.
I ordered a clutch that day.
Autozone lifetime version
Then i checked the forum and jerry lee (teamlighting) said he would hook me up with a 5 speed with unknown miles in good working condition for 75! $ . i jumped on the deal and he even met me a freakin concord speedway like 20 mins from my house, dude was a life saver.
Got it home popped in the cv axles and new clutch and had whisle back on the road the next day.
Drove the piss out of it for 3000 miles like this.
Noticed my timing was set at 16* soni tried to retard it to 10 but the car wouldnt run so i left it set at 16*
Was getin 30 mpg around town
After a month (3000miles after clutch and 5speed swap) i noticed 5th gear was almost useless well this continued to get worse over 1000 miles tonthe point i had to stop driving it as whisle wouldnt go over 35 mph in 2nd gear and would fall flat if i shifted to 3rd.
Rebuilt carb, ran slightly better for about 15 miles then same crap.
Replaced fuel pump , filter , and blew out fuel lines.
Did nothing to solve issue.
So i came to forum and shadetree had a weber set up woth rockettman adaptor for 275$
So i got that from him
While i waited on the parts i toremy rear drums down for breaks and bearings
My spindle on driver side was shot the nut was stripped out so bad i have no idea how the wheel stayed on. I pulled the spindle nut off by hand PULLED not threaded it off. Once again Ff.com saved me
I dont remember which member saved me here but he shipped me both stock drum set ups with spindles and good bearing for free (he charged me cost of shipping at 45$ ). Speak up id love to know who this was.....
Took about a week and i had them installed
Few days after that i received the carb set up in mail and installed it...
Well the weber definatly added alot more power to my festiva but it still wasnt the same
So i bought a distributor. This did nothing so i returned it....sorry autozone lol it was 345$
So at this point i gave up and instead of driving my offroad rig to keepdelivering pizzas and driving 130 miles every morning (so 250 miles a day 6 days a week ) i bought a 2015 jeep renegade to have a dependable back up/ vacation vehicle.
Then i found a 92 festova for 400 bucks that i drove home 2 hours no problem
Car was beat up and windows shot out. Drove well pretty quiet.
So i ripped whisle apart ...everything in the engine bayand under dash
Took me about 2 weeks because i painted engine bay.
Then after i pulled out the dash , wiring from inside dash to ecu to engine bay to tail lights, cherrypicked engine out , droped transmission out with cv's attatched.
The efi swap began
I swaped the harness dash and motor from the efi car (because i knew it would solve my no powr issue)
Also swaped carpet and seats from efi car
As well as a white tach cluster.
After i swaped everything the car runs amazing
It was a long process because i was doing 3 projects at once but i have 2400 miles on the efi swap and motor.
So currently It is a 88 festiva with a 92 motor a 5 speed and efi swap from a 92.
(fun as hell to drive)
Gonna do oil and a filter tomorrow and a air filter for stock box as i dont like cone filters i will modify stock box if anything.
