On second thought, I'm not sure that I ever checked the pressure after having them flipped for camber wear at a tire shop. I'll check them tomorrow. They might be all over the place lol.

Thanks, it was a blast! Yeah, after looking over the results again he actually ran a 48.8 and a 47.6, both with penalties from hitting cones.

I've got almost everything disconnected from the b6d, so hopefully I can get it pulled tomorrow night. The driver side axle was a pain, there wasn't enough room to pry from two sides so I struggled to get it out for a while yesterday. A couple of guys on the Facebook group suggested popping it out from the passenger side opening, which worked great. I think all that's left to disconnect is one a/c line, one power steering hose, and the exhaust.

I also ordered a MX-6 header to use instead of the F22 header. The port spacing is nearly identical, and I haven't held it up to the mock up car yet but it looks like it'll match up with the notch in the pan much better.

Pulled the B6d tonight. I'll work on getting the trans separated tomorrow, clean everything, and hopefully have the timing belt/water pump/seals swapped out this weekend.

I stripped everything off the engine, then cleaned and painted the block. Got the flange cut off the MX-6 header so I could see how it's going to line up on the b6d. Looks good, so I'll go with it.


Compressor installed to check for clearance. Much better than the F22 header.




The b6d flange I found on eBay is pretty crappy. It was missing two holes, and five of the others didn't quite line up. The ports are a little off too. Nothing a carbide burr and drill press can't fix.






Figured out why the engine didn't want to turn over easily when I tried to do a compression test... that's the nose of the starter housing.




New timing belt, water pump, cam/crank seals, and I detailed the valve cover. I tack welded the header to the flange to hold it in place for mock up in the car. I'm off tomorrow, so I'm hoping to pull the B6t/G series out of the blue car so I can get the trans cleaned up and ready to mount to the B6d.

I swapped out the seats, door panels, tilt column, and intermittant wiper switch from my '88 LX last week before I sold it, so now I have a much nicer interior.






Drove it to Pigeon Forge with a couple of friends for the Rod Run show, and spotted another L owned by a Trolley driver.




Hurrican Irma made it's way through, not without a bit of damage to the fleet. One of my parts cars had a giant tree limb fall on it, crushing the hood and roof. It already had frame damage up front so I wasn't too worried about saving the body, but I still hate to see it get damaged further.

I pulled the b6t and G series from the mock up car over the weekend. Got them split and pulled any parts I might need off the engine, then gave the rest of the engine to a friend for his turbo Miata build. The Webers finally sold, so I ordered a pair of Dellorto's from a rebuilder in Italy; they'll be jetted to my specs with 36mm venturis. I went with 60 idles, 150 main, 180 air, and 7772.2 emulsion tubes. Hopefully that gets it close enough to drive, and I can make adjustments as needed. They should be here next Wednesday. I pulled the Autometer wideband out of my '64 bug to use in the Festiva, so that'll help me dial them in.

I'm going to check out an '88 Chevy crew cab dually tomorrow after work (need a more substantial tow rig, and another project :lol so I'll start pulling the b3 out on Wednesday. Hopefully the truck works out so I can pull the Festiva to Madness if the swap isn't 100% finished in time!

If I end up with the truck I'll de-grampa it for now, and eventually convert it to a single wheel short bed C20 with a 73-74 style front clip and side trim, and leave it stock height but swap on 19.5 wheel/tires. It has an efi 454 in it now, and its automatic, so I'd probably swap in a 5.3 or 6.0 and use my T56 so it's more fun to drive and hopefully help with mileage.

And since that's not enough of a project, I've found a Celica shell nearby and will go pick it up a week or two after Madness. I'd love to build an E60 M5 V10 powered drift car from it, but that's probably a bit too far out of my abilites and budget. It's a clean shell for $400 bucks, so I couldn't pass it up.

Don't bother trailering the Festiva to Madness, take a picture, have it blown up and tape or glue it to a poster board, heck when you get to the Madness parking lot, pull out the poster board and grab ya a parking spot.
