Is your intake track in tact with no holes? These cars, won't run without a leak free intake . Also check that the afm door is moving freely and the plug is tight and clean.
Did you test to see if the fuel pump ran ?
Just watched the video and that click is the afm door . So you should be good there.
I would check cam timing if you havent

I had to jump on some yard work - and there is a second car I want to collect at the end of the week if I can swing the deal that will be first priority (Totally stock, 100% complete - but not running as far as is known. The white car that was next to it in the first video)

Studebaker may come out tomorrow, so we may try a few things at least to verify what is and what isn't up to speed. I talked to him the other day, and one of the things I believe really needs doing is to salvage the original PCM harness out of the car for later use on something else.

I want to do a dash removal just to clean up and straighten up everything under there at least one time really good. INCLUDING mounting the PCM somewhere instead of it just laying on the floor where it can get all messed up!

PS: Bhearts, one of the things I looked for was if any splices had been done. The original harness is not being used for anything I can see - since the engine it was for is no longer in the car. There may be cut off bits that used to connect to parts of the chassis, I'll know once I remove it.

*NOTE: As it stands, the weather outlook is clear until Wednesday night, then clearing again into next weekend. I expect to get on this in preference to getting beat up by all the yardwork I got done this weekend.

NOW HEAR THIS! It is ALIVE....

Studebaker came over today, and even helped me out with the parts I needed, once we figured out what they were. One of the biggest helps? Pushing me along a step by step path to confirm what was good or bad including plain old fashioned fuel pressure, compression, distributor, and other things that would be normal procedure - rather than me jumping off the deep end and making wild guesses.

We ran down and certified the fuel system first, and things went on from there. I actually got a sunburn today, from being outdoors in the warm weather for as long as I was.

I didn't get the wheels swapped. The lugbolts were stuck fast on one of the front corners, I finally worked them free after busting both of my 1/2" drive to 3/8" drive adapters. I coated the threads with anti-sieze compound. But the tire and wheel swap would have ate up the rest of the daylight - I have to free up the back rims, and they will go on the front of the Suzuki (the fronts on the Festiva won't clear the brake calipers), and the front ones go on the back. The tire outer diameter is 22" for the new rims and tires, the fronts on the Festiva are 21", and the rear rims and tires are 20" as it turns out, even though those back rims are 15" with a 45 series tire on them.

          Here's the VID:

Street testing and pre-registration dial-in. Do all the lights work? Etc...
The heat and defrost finally began to work once I figured out where to set it - but it's a bit on the slow side.

First thing I did was top off the radiator. I also connected the battery , I had it disconnected out of habit.

I got the wheels swapped - and ran headlong into some clearance problems, so I'm thinking over the best way to get around that. This car may actually wind up with a battery box mounted in the back of the car believe it or not, or very possibly in the center. More on that notion later on, the reason being the battery mount as it is extends out into the fenderwell area in a way that just isn't acceptable.

Additional thoughts have to do with not getting too deep into setting up the ride height and dropping a lot of cash on rubber & stuff before converting the hubs to Aspire (Studebaker told me that I better do that if I want to stay out of trouble with this drivetrain package, and he's right). The lug nut centers will be a different pattern then, and call for a completely different set of rims.

With very little luck at all I can bag a complete set of the fifteen inch rims by going back to who I got this buggy from this weekend and collecting the other two which were sidelined for some reason. I saw where there were four tires for them laying on the floor of the shed at the place, there's also a valve cover for the car that hasn't been painted up in a way that looks frankly like a kid with a box of crayolas went nuts on it...

Then also, I want to gather some stuff together in another car to make sure it stays put until I can get it. It's one that had the engine and trans removed & I don't think the guy who is dealing all this stuff off has any clue about what it was being prepped for.

All that guy cares about anyway (it turns out) is that he wants to buy the property so he can have the five acres of woods as deer hunting land. He's NOT a car guy - just a back country housepainter who likes his little hole-in-the-wall and garden plots

A quick update - and a few notes. I went back to the fifteen inch rims for the front wheels, because of the rubbing and clearance bug. I also did some shopping around, and found a really good price on Federal tires in the range I think will work.

What is on those rims - and I can get the other two rims, I'm pretty sure but I don't absolutely have to have them - but I think instead of 175/45 series, a 175/55 or 175/60R15 will have just about the right outer diameter that I'm looking for at least until I kit the car over to Aspire hubs and lay down the cash for a nice set of rims to fit the new bolt pattern (108mm, I think it is. Anyone got the skinny on that for sure?).

But anyway - this is what it's like right now:

*I also need to figure out why the auto-shoulderbelt mechanism isn't operating. It may be something as simple as a fuse.

Aspire bolt pattern is 4x100, 4x108 is focus. What is the total tire height that you're looking for? Factory tire height is ~21", a 175/60/15 will put you at over 23", so the 45 series you have now is more correct.

It must've lost a lot of tread then.

~I measured the three tire/rim combos, and the 13's with tires for the Suzuki were 22 inches.
The old bald 12 inch wheels that were on the front originally came to 21 inches, and
the fifteen inch rims with 165/45R15's on them were 20 inches <<<EDIT! 165, NOT 175

                      HOLD THE PHONE!!!
I just found a way cool toy:

Easy to use tire height calculator. Use our tire height calculator to calculate the diameter of metric tire sizes. Browse all sizes with our tire height chart.

                      ~option 2 ~

                      Awright waydaminnit...

                      It's a 165, not a 175. I STOOGED...

165/45R15 is 20.85 (what it is now, but way wore out so they lost a quarter to a half inch of tread)
*The one on the right is scuffing the wear bars in fact

                      175/45R15 is 21.2

165/50R15 comes out 21.5, but the 175 has a wider grip

*I took note of the rim size stamped on them when I cleaned and painted them - they are 15 by 5.5 rims

                      hmmmmmm

I was told the guy who had the car was doing a lot of burnouts, so it's no big suprize

Ha!!! I did some background research in prep for this weekend, called a number of the salvage yards in the area to get a quote on what the cars would be worth if they were sold to the yard. I did this because in the last conversation the fella was hinting to me that "They ain't gonna be here forever - we gonna sell 'em to a salvage yard eventually so we can git the land clear" (so that HE could buy the property himself)

                        Well, well, well, well well...
All of the yards were in agreement: "Fifty to seventy five dollars IF YOU BRING IT TO US"

That right there is pure dang ammunition of the most important kind, if dude hedges or puts out an unreal price - all I have to do is quote the yards, tell him call them if he doesn't believe me, and wish him luck like I'm walking away from the deal... :highly_amused:

Since he's not even a 'Car Guy', it seems to me like I've got him cornered! It's a buyers market.

Brad you should be in a 45 series if you're going that wide (maximum).

The second calculator link above (it's the better one) says that would be 23.88" tall, or almost 24".

A 205/35R15 would come to 20.65, or about 20 1/2" - but I got no idea where you might find an animal like that

I think I'm pretty solid now with the tire and wheel range I want.. Wolf TWO will be here in 2 1/2 weeks, and I'm going after high miles with it, Inovit "Force 4" 15 by 6.5's with 165/45R15. I think those are going to be my basic set for now since if I have it right stock Festiva bolts (lugs) are 4 on 4.5 (4 x 114.3mm) with a max offset of 40mm.

Once the "STOCK" unit arrives, I can do stuff with the turbo car, but until all the papers clear and I have a solid title for each in MY NAME I've decided to slam on the brakes for now. The guy I've been dealing with just seems kind of hard headed. You tell him what is needed and he starts to song and dance until his nose is rubbed in it.

I'm still waiting for a copy of the prior owners death certificate, he said he'd call when he got that. I also noticed the titles may be signed in the wrong place. There's a space for the odometer reading, and a space for the sellers signature and address.

                                Guess which one was signed...
