One of the things that I have been caught up in is getting my garden going for the year - and I think I explained this to Studebaker - it is necessary to be as self sufficient as possible to do what I do.

This is what I have been involved in:

    * I'm beginning to get really pissed off at how tricky it is to post video here

Okay - two gripes (electrical) have been put away. "Red warrior NOW has":
Automatic shoulder belts, and a rear window wiper.

One had a disconnected switch and a missing fuse, the other was just a missing fuse.

I think one of the empty slots in the dash was the rear window defogger switch - I found a four pin harness connector where the switch probably should be, the logic for the wires is pretty simple. Almost all dash switches are illuminated, so there will be one that gets power when the lights are on (I didn't check that yet). One of the pins has 12V on it, so that's a gimmee, it's the source for the defogger grid. I should re-check it in key-off.

      Here's video....

~ and the video paster failed. Cheeze!

Okay, I'm tired of troubleshooting the web page.

Tomorrow should be the day I bring #2 home.

        I haven't heard from Studebaker in a while, I wonder what's up?

IT IS done, people. Today I successfully collected the other one. htd

*That loud noise at the start of the video is an A/C unit running behind me. Sorry about that....

            IT RUNS!!!

Not only that, but I could swear it has bigger stones than it ought to have....
All gears shift in and out smoothly, and there is very little "WOBBLY" in the stick - it feels a lot more precise than what's in the B6T car.

There may be a loose motor/axle mount, I could swear I felt a bump when banging gears

Running the gearbox, the 6K top RPM zone seems to work out perfectly. I dunno how to explain that, but the G-force and engine sound come together in a way I understand at a seat of the pants level. "CLUTCHING" is at the top of the pedal too - lot's of room left.

I'll do a morning trial to check that the battery holds a charge, and to see what the lights are doing. The main worry is over the radiator, because it seemed to be running a little warm.

There was no sign of coolant in the oil - so I doubt that it has a head gasket leak. The radiator was low, however. I want to know why.

~And there is also that puzzling extra device, with a fuel line running to and from it, and two electrical connections. I still dunno what that thing is, or why Fred put it in there.

In a simple phrase: "It feels strong. More than a stock Festiva should be, and I wonder about that too"

** It also has a valve rattle that makes me wonder if the adjustment is off

Okay - did a check ride with a camera.

That sensation of "Brake Pedal Flutter" I mention in the video may be serious, or may go away. It could be caused by a rusted area.
The reason it bothers me, is because it may be for one of several reasons that may indicate a severe condition.

QED: The brakes on this machine will IF FOR THAT REASON ALONE be subjected to an in depth inspection. Remember that I said that...

I think I have a name for at least the second car now - based on the clear coat flaking off, and the obvious bodywork that it will need - and also my intended use of it:

Rolling down interstate highways free and clear in my retirement to see the country.

                "DUSTY"

                ~ as in "Dusty Roads"...

The turbo car though - I'm not sure what I think yet. I think a lot is yet to be seen. I think it could become a "Mustang Eater" and a "Corvette Pisser-Offer". A "Porche Disser", and a "Fart Cannists" worst nightmare....

Some sort of a WOLF, but what kind I haven't decided.

With the package it already has, I think attention needs to be paid to the suspension and body

And the intercooler needs to be seriously rethought...

                * I already know what I'm going to do about a grill. NO - it won't be stock.
Good thing I can weld and fabricate.

                (at least a little)

This car is indoors for the winter - FINALLY!

It took a lot to get the shop sorted out and arranged into a decent work space, and I have yet another two Festiva's that I dragged home over the last few months, even though it meant I had to eat a lot of tuna fish to get by, after all the cash I laid out...

You have seen how nasty the paint (what was left of it) was getting on the hood, today I at least got a halfway kinda sorta topcoat on it just to see how it might look. The paint was leftover from an RV that was being repaired in 2007, believe it or not, so it's a small miracle that it was still even shootable...

Must be warmer down there. Too cold up here for painting out side and you have leaves Left on your trees!

Yeah, but the bad part is when the trees themselves start to get blown down later on...

Anyway! I put some spot glazing putty on it here and there. Did some sanding late last night, the overnight 'In-Garage' temp was about 60 f. There's been a lot of rain overnight, so I'm going to spend some Q-time emptying the cart, putting stuff away (OUT of the way) and getting set for more cool stuff.

Update again - tomorrow it will change color once and for all, with a quality paint but some minor stuff i will have to go back over later. I'm just not willing to let it rust anywhere anymore, the color coat must go on!

I got so hot today you can call me "John de Arc", I swear I nearly burned alive out here earlier today

Finally tracked down a spring I knew I had somewhere, and a shock. I may (WILL!) do an explore soon using one of the Red Wrecks for a parts supply.

I need to build up ONE strut, put it on ol' Dusty here, and then use the parts from it to swap suspensions to the OTHER red car...
