But, at the end of that 4 days, you'll have a real idea of what fast really means. Street racing or fast road driving is nowhere near the same concept of speed as hot lapping a road coarse on sticky tires. I haven't tested the Federal 595 Evo yet, but they will be going on my race wheels next. At less than half the price of my A048r tires, they would allow me to run more track days. Fast cars are cars that turn reliable lap times, not cars with a sweet parts list that sit in the garage. A purpose built b6t or Bp engine in a well prepped Festiva would be awesome, but without driving experience and the right tires, it would be a waste. It's easier to learn how to drive a car with less HP and more grip than it is to learn to drive a car with more HP and less grip. Not to mention, more HP and less grip will get you into trouble really quick. I found that out at my first track day in Tweak. I overheated the street tires several times and flung the car off the track into a cloud of dust. I nearly flipped the car on one of those off track adventures. That's when I decided to put the car on race rubber. The r compound rubber really transformed the car and allowed me to learn what the chassis needed to go really fast.
i'm struggling with which tires to run right now. I have at least 4 sets of takeoff 13x8" goodyear eagle slicks from a star mazda. I think this may be too much tire for the car. Ended up being just the right amounf of tire for the miata turbo though...I also have 2-3 sets of toyo RA1's that were takeoff from my miata which i could use..... but that was not enough tire for the turbo miata.

I've never heard of those federal evo tires? where can you buy them? for 275 its really not a a huge amount of capital outlay to test.

Mentals car has a Miata intake manifold, which is a much better design than the us b6t manifold. Your JDM manifold will be more like his, especially if you run a Miata TB.
The 2554r will definitely be a better setup than the vj14. What I'm trying to say is that drivers should spend that extra 900 bucks on r compound tires and track days, instead of big turbos. A stock b6t in a Festiva will exploit the grip of street tires quickly, so big turbo b6t isn't going to make much of a difference to lap times compared to sticky tires and experience. Case in point, my lap times in Pedro are lower on R compound rubber than they are in Tweak with street rubber. Pedro is 70hp shy of Tweak, but that extra HP doesn't make up for grip.
I don't mean to thread jack this sorta pertains but how quickly do you burn through R compounds would a larger turbo be a longer lasting 900? It wouldnt be the most effective 900 but wouldnt it last longer

Here you can see that the TQ dips were caused by rich spots. We later found out that this was from the water methanol jet being too rich. I ordered a smaller jet and this smoothed out. I'm not sure where the other graph is though.
yah... thats a really nice smooth tq delivery. Id like to compare this to Mentals b6t graph with the t25 turbo. I know there area tonne of miata t25 dyno sheets but id like to just try compare apples to apples.

O well tho. I will be getting the other car in a few long weeks. It has a spare trans with it. So im covered either way. I hate that my car breaks when im going easy on it. Makes me think i should go all out all the time...

And inspect your rod bearings. That kind of a rapid over rev will stretch rod bolts and toast the bearings.

Guys the deals have been made! Lucifer will be going BPT soon. I am buying the car that was posted on facebook. I will swap that cars motor and everything over to my car. My motor will be swapped into the white car and taken back to stock stuff (vj14 normal exhaust rocketchip) and then will be sold as a running b6t rust free in need of paint.

    So pumped right now!!!!
