I've thought about this several times but was thinking more low long tube dune buggy with welded diff.
How are you working out the shift shaft to the trans?

Yeah it was pretty sturdy. It held our weight pretty good when we got on top of it. Only thing I didn't like about it was it was crudely screwed into the body.

Did you get it? If you fix how it attached it would be perfect for a roof top tent!

No, unfortunately they scrapped the car once Andrew got the front end suspension off of it. It had a lot of good stuff still left on it, including tilt steering! It's a shame, really.

Woefully underpowered tho, needs a BP.....

"This is a awesome ride. It has a Mazda 4 cylinder motor that is water cooled and automatic Mazda transmission. It has a Volkswagen front end and the rear end is the front end out the Mazda car. It has four wheel disc brakes. It has light bars and Itp tires. Don't pay $15k for a razor or a couple thousand for a vw rail that you always have to work on. You don't have to work on this just get in it and go. It was last registered in California as a off-road vehicle. This thing will fly down the road and has comfortable seats. You can't buy a 4 wheeler this cheap! Not looking for trades. $2800 firm"

What do you estimate the total weight to be when it's all built? At 600 lbs for instance, it would have three times the power/weight ratio with any motor than a stock 1800-lb Festiva. So your 83 HP is effectively 249 HP! :-)
Wheelbase is about 7 foot. I'm guessing the total weight will be around 900 lbs.

Very exciting. Last post was Dec 2014. I just stumbled onto the thread while searching. Is there a conclusion to this story? Did it, does it run?
                        Tnx.
