Wow I wondered what happened to that car!!! It's sure in good hands now though
1988 323 Station Wagon - KLG4 swapped
1988 323 GT - B6T Powered
2008 Ford Escape - Rollover Survivor
1990 Festiva - First Ever Completed KLZE swap (SOLD)
If no one from the future stops you from doing it, how bad of a decision can it really be?

Dampening is one issue that I'll be addressing. Right now the car has an aluminum main pulley that has replaced the damper. Thats gotta go if I plan on this holding together on the track.Driving for me is neither a right nor a privilege. Just going to start out with NA BP. I'm going to swap in a G15mr gearbox and move the engine forward a couple inches. At 108hp, it's right around where Pedro is, but Pedro is a full weight car with the engine in the stock location. This car should be considerably faster with a few hundred pounds shaved off and the heavier BP moved forward.
Once the chassis is dialed in, I'll begin my magic on that BP. I've got some tricks up my sleeve for engines like this.Last edited by Advancedynamix; 07-27-2016, 05:57 PM.Driving for me is neither a right nor a privilege. What kind of HP/TQ numbers do you want to get out of this motor, and what do you consider optimal for the type of track driving you do?90 Festy (Larry)--B6M (Matt D. modified B6 head), header, 5-speed, Capri XR2 front brakes, many other little mods

Excellent question. I'm not really sure yet. This will be a different weight balance than what I've driven in the past. I learned a lot from Tweak, but the stock b6t is not optimal for driving on the limit. The b6t is an excellent package for street performance and for beginner to intermediate drivers though. 180ft.lbs of TQ seemed to work perfectly for Tweaks weight, but the TQ peak was at around 5k rpm with a 6200rpm Rev limit. That is too narrow of a TQ curve.
I'd like 180ft.lbs of TQ at around 4000 rpm with a TQ peak of 250ft.lbs at 6000rpm and a rev limit of 7500rpm or higher. I have no doubt that with this power curve I could drastically cut my lap times. This isn't a difficult thing to accomplish with the BP+T, however, BP engines are known for breaking things when pushed hard over 6k rpm for long periods of time. That's a harmonic issue. I have some ideas on how to remedy the BP'S violent harmonics. I don't want to say how until it's proven to work though. I'll test these theories naturally aspirated. I can tell a lot about internal harmonics by keeping an eye on the rod and main bearings. Failures happen much too fast to monitor once boost is introduced.Last edited by Advancedynamix; 07-27-2016, 09:15 PM.Driving for me is neither a right nor a privilege. A few years back when Brett lived here in Iowa, a few of us were invited to watch Brett and Casper show off at a ACCA road course parking lot event, Brett seemed ok with Casper's power but it was in desperate need of some suspension help. It wasn't long after that Brett moved south for his job. Congrats Charlie on a great rescue. An idea can turn to dust or magic, depending on the talent that rubs against it.

He's back in Iowa and still has a nice rust free 88 festy that he scored down here. Brett hasn't lost the love for Festivas, he just didn't want to drag Casper back to Iowa with him.Driving for me is neither a right nor a privilege. This should be interesting...
I have thought about pairing a healthy N/A BP (4W or Z3 head with some extra compression and other go fast bits) with an F series for a daily driver with occasional track use. I think 120 ft-lbs and 165 hp or a little more at the front wheels would be achievable without a ton of work. Would be pretty tame and fun to drive and should be better on gas than a turbo engine.

Yeah. I think a Rio 5 speed box would work well for that and would still allow for the g series IM shaft (totally a thoery, never tried it.)Driving for me is neither a right nor a privilege. Haven't logged in years. So happy this car is in good hands. I had to abruptly move and this car sat for a few years in my rental garage. Couldn't get myself to rid of it and happy to reconnect to the festy community (hopefully I'm not shamed). Again. So so happy this can be back in the spotlightProud owner of Casper
