Hello and Welcome!
As some of you know I had a perennially unfinished project in my aqua 121 named MOZDA.
I Progressed well with that build, but when it came to finishing the build, I was missing a bunch of parts that I had stupidly/mistakingly disposed of. I also let the project drag on too long and registration on this car had lapsed, meaning i would have to get an engineers certificate for all the mods before I could even drive the car on the road. This in turn meant that I would have to get the car towed back and forth from the engineers place, and was quickly becoming too much of a headache.
But luckily as if by divine timing, I came across Jake (I named him Jake after the dog on Adventure time).
Jake is a 1989 Mazda 121 in yellow with only 148,000KM (around 92,000 miles), and is in absolute mint condition.
This wasn't the first encounter I had with jake. I had tried to buy him on a previous occasion from the owner previous to the guy who sold him to me. Jake was purchased by a gentleman around 2009 and he kept him in his garage for a future project. Sadly, this gentleman passed away and the car sat in the garage for a few years before his wife decided to sell it. This is when i first laid eyes on this car, She was asking a ridiculous amount for it ($3500 iirc), but i still made contact and made an offer. She wouldn't budge, so the car remained listed for sale for approx 1 year. I made contact various times and by the end she got tired of me pestering her so she blocked me and I could no longer contact her.
I gave up.
Fast forward 18 months....
I found the car for sale again. This time its new owner, who had absolutely no idea about what can be done with these cars, decided to put it up for sale after having to replace the driveshafts, and clutch, and now the rear shock absorber had stopped working. That was enough for him to give up on the car. I bought it for a steal $800!!!
My plans are simple- upgrade the car with all the components I had on the aqua car.
I will update this build log as things get done. Ive already done a fair amount of work and will post all work done as time allows it.
