took most of the dash and heater box/venting off chasing a water leak

The A/C was full of crap - Does anyone know how to tell if this was factory a/c or dealer installed? I have no compressor and want to restore the system - will probably need a new condenser, dryer, compressor. Are parts interchangeable?

Also, this is above the blower motor inside the air plenum. What is it for?

Youll want new orings and an expansion valve as well. I believe a couple parts are interchangable but not many.
Also youll want to install a cabin air filter.
Post some pics of your hose routing, i think thats one way people tell if its dealer or factory.
That thing by the blower motor is important, dont touch it, lol. I cant remember its exact function but if your blower motor ever quits thats one thing you check. I think it controls the speeds or something, not sure...

The item in your picture appears to be the Resistors for the Blower motor, Ryan was right in that it controls speeds. Each little loop of wire is a different resistance, which results in a different motor speed.

Your car is a 1989 - it has the re-enforcing/crash beam inside the door. 88's did not have them.

                Looking good!

                  thanks for the info

Other news - I got a weber and the rocketman adapter ordered - I want to simplify wiring and am thinking of removing the ECU/engine wiring harness and going to minimal wires.

I'm thinking that the only connections to the engine would be starter, ground, distributor, temperature sensor for fan control

So on Rock auto I can get a new compressor/drier accumulator/expansion valve, condensor for dealer air. However, the hardlines and evap core they only have for factory air. Does anyone know if I can mix/match these? Or can I re-use my old evap core?

Not sure about the hard lines, which ones specifically?
You can reuse the old core if you can clean it. I spent hours on mine. Be sure not to bend any fins, they take forever to straighten again.
Any parts you reuse you flush out with solvent, blow dry and then vaccum dry.

That factory air suction hose they show for the FOUR SEASONS 55798 part number does not look like any of the suction hoses on my 89, 90, or 92 Festives which have factory air. It bolts on at both ends. Mine all bolt on to the compressor but have a screw on connection at the evaporator. Rock Auto also shows orifice tubes as fitting 89 Festivas with factory air, and all mine use expansion valves. Was the factory air on the carb 89's different than it was on the 89's with EFI?
I see the expansion valve inside your evaporator box so I know it does not use an orifice tube.

As long as the fittings and threads are good on your metal hoses, you should be able to reuse them with no issues. The flexible hoses usually last a long time too, they can develop small leaks over time but they usually last a pretty long time. If all the fittings are good, I would try to use the old ones. I have one extra flexible suction hose for a dealer air system that I pulled from a junk yard a long time ago. It's the hose that goes from the evaporator to the low side of the compressor and has screw on fittings at both ends and a charge port on the metal part at one end. Writing on the hose is SAE J51 Type A 2PH 7624-12 5/8"
I measured the screw on fittings and they appear to be 21mm I couldn't find any measurement that was 5/8 inches.
If you find that you can use the hose that I have, I will ship it to you for $25.

You can get those YC-56 type compressors for less on ebay that at Rockauto. http://www.ebay.com/itm/AC-Compresso...FY1HIV&vxp=mtr

The Rockauto prices on the new condenser and expansion valve appear to be pretty reasonable.

Occasionally you can even find brand new one for less.

Make sure the fitting sizes on the accumulator/dryer and expansion valve match your hose connections before you order them and find out they don't fit when they arrive.

Took the feedback carb off in prep for the weber - does anyone know the jet size for the stock carb? Would save me taking it apart..

Also, found this on the intake below the primary - seems like a heater - is this stock? Should I re-use it for my weber?

Well, i RTM and found out it's an EFE heater which when (1) coolant isn't up to temp and (2) ignition is on - heats up the incoming fuel after the carb. I'm trying to find if there is a similar setup that will bolt right below my weber

Stock carb jet will not correlate to the Webber. There are a few threads that discuss the sizes that are a good start.

followed the shift linkage guide and drilled the fixed bolt out to 1/2. Used the brass bushings from corksport - then realized you can just buy the same bushings at menards for frickin $3/ea. just fyi for other people before they drop $40 on $12 of parts

for some reason it's hard to shift into either 1st or reverse at times, but the rest of the time it is smooth. not sure what i did wrong there
