Don't know off the top of my head what the mini makes, but both the 13bdett and the LNF/LTG ecotec engines make quite a bit more than the power posted by the OP.Trees aren't kind to me...

PART 1:
For a short time, I was undecided on which small car to get. The list were as follows:
1976 honda civic 2 door.
Daihatsu charade 2 door
Honda CRX
Suzuki swift GTI
Honda City pro.
Mazda 323
Mazda 121
Hyundai excel
The problem with these cars, is that although its the small compact size, light weight cars im after, the engine bays are to small to fit a good size engine, (mazda 32 exempt). So after a long think and countless times walking around cars in the wrecking yard to look under the hoods, i have decided on a WA model Ford Festiva 2 door. In the wrecking yard, there were many small festivas and 323 mazdas. The reason why i chose the 2 door WA ford festiva over the mazda 323, is because i always loved the "coolmint blue" color, i call it coolmint, and obviously, 2 door is better then 4 door. Less weight etc.
Purchase price of car: $500.
So i got it towed home, ready for stripping.

PART 2:
Now that i have the car home, i began stripping it of everything i wont need, Mainly interior. No pics at the moment, as its really not important.
Only driver seat and 1/4 dash remains inside, nothing else. Sound deadner also being removed.
Passenger seat.
Carpet
roof lining
Unwanted inside wiring
Whole dash and everything inside
Fuel tank
Exhuast
engine
Wipers front and rear
Absolutely everything thats not needed.
Complete: Car stripped of everything and is a roller. This took me approx 2 days to do at a slow, no rush pace.
Car parked under a tree....., awaiting engine combination to be decided.Last edited by Only1; 06-21-2017, 05:46 AM.

PART 3: What engine should i choose.
The ford festiva has a good size engine bay. The length and width is very large, enough to fit a wide range of engine types. So at this stage of the conversion, i have decided to use a engine combo i have never seen or heard of before. I didnt want to get an engine that has been done before by a tom, dick and harry. the rule is, if i do a engine conversion/project car, it must be VERY DIFFERENT, something you dont see everyday, or expect.
Engines i have taken into consideration, but not chosen in this conversion:
EVO 6 4g63
SR20DET
AUDI 4 cylinder 20 valve turbo. (YES, an Audi engine).
Ford focus XR5 2 litre turbo 4 cylinder
Ford focus XR5 2.3litre 5 cylinder turbo.
Mazda BPT 1.8 litre turbo.
Honda S2000 2 litre N/A
Honda B16A
Swift GTI G13B 1.3 litre twincam, and turbocharged.
13b rotary with custom gearbox for FWD application.
NOPE
NOPE
NOPE
NONE OF THE ABOVE!!!
There was one engine i wanted to choose from the list above, but at a cost of $3500 for a front cut, it was just bloody to expensive. I was quoted even 5k for a duratec 5 cylinder frontcut. That was just to much for me to spend for a engine/ecu/gearbox and loom. That was rip off prices. SO.......what do i choose now????? The hunt began again.

PART 4: The engine.
Purchase price of VOLVO 5 cylinder 2.5 litre turbo: $500 only.
As mentioned in Part 3, i wanted to get the biggest capacity engine i could fit between the rails, RE: 5 cylinder 2.3 turbo, but the front cuts were just ridiculously expensive. So what did i do....... i bought an equivalent type engine, EVEN BIGGER IN CAPACITY, but at a fraction, fraction of cost, and is even better and has major potential.
So behold >
VOLVO 5 cylinder 2.5Litre TURBO
This engine was chosen because it is all aluminum, aluminum block and head. If this was cast iron, FORGET IT. It would be a boat anchor.Last edited by Only1; 06-21-2017, 06:17 AM.

You have figured out how to put 600hp or whatever to the ground right? Theres a guy on fb with a 700+ hp bpt who hasnt been able to get all that power down yet. Hes doing 10 second 1/4 miles but could be way better. If you wanted to talk to him about how your getting the power down that could help him and he can probly tell you what hasnt worked for him.
Carlos A Rivera on facebook.
Anyway, hoping to see some pictures or videos of it in the festiva soon!

Ha! This was actually my second guess! Got a T5 in the garage. Good choice!
One problem with that engine is the TQ is off the charts down low. Our C30 only makes 285hp and it TQ steers and spins pretty bad. The 121 might be better though because it's much less weight to tug around and won't load the turbo as much. The sound of that T5 is glorious and will turn a lot of heads.
That bright blue is awesome, but you could respray it Rebel blue and make the world's only Polestar Festiva.
