  • Circle track festiva.

Hello everyone I am in need of some help building a car for next year to compete at a local asphalt circle track and mini figure 8 car.I have owned a few festivas and aspires so I do know the little cars pretty good but not much modding outside of some FMS parts in the past.I want to build a front runner here to compete against other fwd 4 cylinders the winners so far have been an eclipse and a probe for the most part the secret here is handling some are fast down the straights but push BAD in the corners.I must keep it stock appearing as far as the parts go nothing to draw attention to its self.I plan to run the stock 1.3 with a header and a 4 speed stick as this is a small track most cars bounce off the limiter at the end of the straights in 2nd gear.Any help as in what parts will bolt up and look stock or like they belong there will be a huge help I have been searching and saw the 323 stuff but I must not lower it or even cut on stuff. Umm, it says stock motors so that pretty much leaves you stuck with the 1.3.

Or if you want to get all ninja, swap the 1.6 and trade valve covers.

Aspire brakes might be stock looking if you can find a decent wheel for it.

Take it back to the back porch, join the 3 string revolution.

You know, you can make a B6 look exactly like a B3.

i assume you can run straight water to replace that anti-freeze right?

yes I was going to run water and the water wetter I have used it in the past and it has all ways dropped the temps 20 degrees or so.I was actually going to run the stock 1.3 and see how the car done and if it wasnt fast enough swapping in the b6 or maybe even the b8 doing it isnt the problem we stuffed a ford 2.3 turbo in a suzuki samurai for god sakes it making it look stock to fool the techs thats the problem.I have even pondered buying some FMS springs and burying them in the backyard for a few months so they look somewhat stock

A B8 won't look stock to anyone who knows Mazdas and Festivas. As for the springs, sand blast them before you bury them. You won't have to wait long.

Good idea I was just gonna spray them with a couple cans of oven cleaner then bury them.

It doesnt say you cant lower the car it says stock springs. You can use Aspire springs cut down and that would improve handleing but still look just like stock ones. I would deffinatly do an Aspife brake swap as well. Aspire struts too.
                  Hey btw whats your location.

Okay, I'm know the track Jaybels is talking about and even though it doesn't say no lowering, it is no lowering. I think somewhere in the track general rules it says "Just because it doesn't say you can't, doesn't mean you can." I've gotten busted in a different class that reads the same rule, i.e. - stock springs, and was d/q'd for cutting the stock springs. Now I do believe he could get away with lowering it just a hair, maybe torching the springs to collapse them, I don't think the tech guy is savvy enough, at least on a Festy, to know the difference, especially if it was done low on the spring. Maybe a spring that would sit about the same ride height, but with a higher rate would be the way to go, much like has already been mentioned, just blast 'em, and piss on 'em to rust 'em up.

As you probably know, Owensboro is only about 30 miles east of Henderson. I know it very well, although it has been years since I've been there. I believe there is still the Kentucky Motor Speedway which has an asphalt oval and Windy Hollow, although it used to be a dirt oval. Anyway, welcome to the FF.com. If anyone can help you, these guys can!

Here lets just put it out there. You are attempting to compete in a "stock" 4cyl class but you are asking how to make a festiva a front runner without getting caught.

                              Re-read #19

You need some driving skill. Driving/racing a small underpowered car is about maintaining momentum. Its a light car lighten it more, find things to remove/ lighten. The lotus motto is add lightness. You said most of the cars there just plow through the corners, then make your car handle better.

Youtube circle track festiva. A guy in PA circle tracks it & gets podiums from time to time.

I'm kinda coming down on you cause the 4cyl cars around here there is lot of the bending of rules going on. Probes are specificaly banned for their power advantage. The leaders are all jy sponsored cars.

Just enjoy racing the 4cyl hornet class is a feeder program for the more powerful cars.
