Damn aerodynamics!
My '04 GT is a 5-speed with a few bolt-ons and stock gears and I think it pulls pretty hard if you wind it out to 6K. To think that I could have that same feeling from my $1000 Festy with just a motor swap and still get 30+ mpg & look like a......well, a Festiva.... is just so intriguing! I gotta do me a motor swap!Brian

The GT was an auto with 3.73s. The funny part is the car has a stock festy tranny in it... I'm not only giving it really soft shifts but I'm short-shifting the thing (6,500) when I have the shift light set for 6,800, I don't think I've run it out and seen the light come on yet. I'm pretty timid about grenading the tranny. I beat the hell out of my GT, but it has the hardware to handle things like WOT powershifts, etc.
I need a G series trans.1989 Carby L: Stock. Slow.

You still got the TR3650 in your GT? Had any of the cold shift issues? I hear horror stories about them, but my '04 hasn't had any problems.Brian

It would drive me crazy to have a tranny that won't take the motor. I would get all paranoid about it. I always figured I would do a BP/F-series if anything. That way I wouldn't need the elusive Capri mid-shaft. Plus, I think an F would handle the 20 extra HP that the BP has over a B8, especially in a light Festiva.

Shift issues? Nah, I haven't. My car has a Centerforce clutch and a Pro 5.0 shifter. I've never had any cold shift issues.1989 Carby L: Stock. Slow.

Get/make a festiva GTA front end. That should drop the drag coefficient a bit.

The GT doesn't stand a chance against the b6t from 20 mph roll... Im trapping 103 with stock wheels.. Car likes to spin so if it was rolling it would be alot easier to walk on by..1988 Ford Festiva "Sonic" BPT g25mr MS2 standalone ecu, FOTY '11, Best Beater FMV, Fan Favorite FMVI
