 ya your telling me considering i've only got maybe 1500 kms (roughly 1000 miles) on the swap

    1988 323 Station Wagon - KLG4 swapped
    1988 323 GT - B6T Powered
2008 Ford Escape - Rollover Survivor

1990 Festiva - First Ever Completed KLZE swap (SOLD)

If no one from the future stops you from doing it, how bad of a decision can it really be?

      Damn aerodynamics!
Don't know what your Festiva has for an engine, but if it's a BP or B6T then it's probably pretty close to the same Lb/Hp ratio as as stock '04 GT. The close race makes sense, especially if the GT is an Automatic with 3.27 gears and you start from a 20mph roll! Nonetheless, it's still impressive!

My '04 GT is a 5-speed with a few bolt-ons and stock gears and I think it pulls pretty hard if you wind it out to 6K. To think that I could have that same feeling from my $1000 Festy with just a motor swap and still get 30+ mpg & look like a......well, a Festiva.... is just so intriguing! I gotta do me a motor swap!

        BP swap.

The GT was an auto with 3.73s. The funny part is the car has a stock festy tranny in it... I'm not only giving it really soft shifts but I'm short-shifting the thing (6,500) when I have the shift light set for 6,800, I don't think I've run it out and seen the light come on yet. I'm pretty timid about grenading the tranny. I beat the hell out of my GT, but it has the hardware to handle things like WOT powershifts, etc.

        I need a G series trans.

I wish we had "tracks" that did roll racing here.

My B3 is pretty much toast. I found a BP for a swap but I don't have the time or money for a tranny swap as well so I think I'll just do a B6 swap. It would drive me crazy to have a tranny that won't take the motor. I would get all paranoid about it. I always figured I would do a BP/F-series if anything. That way I wouldn't need the elusive Capri mid-shaft. Plus, I think an F would handle the 20 extra HP that the BP has over a B8, especially in a light Festiva.

You still got the TR3650 in your GT? Had any of the cold shift issues? I hear horror stories about them, but my '04 hasn't had any problems.

I'd do the BP in a heartbeat. Even if it meant not hammering the brains out of the drivetrain. It's tough to do, I know for certain... but it's worth it.

Shift issues? Nah, I haven't. My car has a Centerforce clutch and a Pro 5.0 shifter. I've never had any cold shift issues.

I used an F-series tranny with my BP swap when i still had it and i had no issues with the tranny, it seemed to hold up very good!!

Get/make a festiva GTA front end. That should drop the drag coefficient a bit.

rev limmiter stops you at 7200rpm in that kia motor if you really ring it out. What's cool about that car is it's compleatly stock stuff. Reliable d.d too. runs like a sewing machine.

The GT doesn't stand a chance against the b6t from 20 mph roll... Im trapping 103 with stock wheels.. Car likes to spin so if it was rolling it would be alot easier to walk on by..

Maybe the new 5.0 can do that, but I've never seen a 2010 and under break out of the 14's myself.
