I remeber a guy that was going to do a turbo RWD TURBO 2.3 / 5 speed festiva, went so far as stripping out a merkure driveline and picking up a dana 44 to be narrowed. Even had the rims etc. Dont know what happened to it... I think he traded the engine for a tranny or something....

Who was that guy NovaSS? How's that tranny? The XR4Ti drive train in my garage needs a car to be put in! LOL I think a Festiva Tranny for a 2.3 Turbo drive train was a good swap on my part......

This is very true , but usually when a kid comes in claiming crazy stuff , he would have a 5 sec 1/4 mile civic in the background. Not a big block chevy in a s10. So I kinda want to believe.

BTW welcome to crazy projects. Your are not alone.

Whiat about an aluminum duratec? Much lighter than a 2.3 I would imagine.

I don't think your going to get a 28" tall tires to fit right I've got some 26's for mine and there massive next to the festy going to be very tight

What length ladder bars are you looking at?

I haven't decided what motor to run yet. A good friend of mine owns a speed shop in Detroit WWW.enmotionperformance.com). There's lots of decisions to make still. A 28x10.5 will be no problem. Were going to remove the fire wall & floor all the way to the rear bumper.

Aluminum block 4.6 4V w/centri. Light, simple and with low boost 400+ rwhp without issue. Do you prefer to stay carbed to keep it simple?

Probably going to use 32" or 33" ladder bars. Also a narrowed 8.8 rear end out of a mustang due to to amount of after market part. Were mustang guys so I'll stick with what I know.

I'd like to keep it simple and stay with a Carb. Were really trying to use parts we have or can pick up cheap.

Cool deal, I've been looking at the 28" one's, I've already got a 9" for mine going to run a
3.25 gear on a 26" tire.my concern with the 28 was the height and the back bumper cover but I'm real picky about proportions

I don't know if it will help but looks like a cage kit for a chevette/toyota starlet should be a close shape match for a festiva.

Can't wait to see pics of your project, mines on hold till I finish my turbo kit on my maverick but hasn't stopped my parts collecting =0

I wont be using a back bumper, just the cut down plastic bumper cover. I noticed that the chevette is realty close in measurements. Might but that kit and alter as needed. My biggest obstacle will be the headers..the car will be sitting low. This will be easy to do because I'll be installing a new sub frame and floor.
