Is it down in LA that I've heard that the local fuzz organizes street races by shutting down certain roads in the city or burbs and having organized casual grudge matches. EMS on hand and they are police run so there aren't the usual slough of "activities" that go with the race scene sometimes. You also get to race the popo occaisionaly.
But as a teenage boy I can't deny the lure of illicit racing, I wish there was some on the island, but theres not.

People could afford it, and you'd clean up. No sanctioned events, no big name racers (except if they bring an unsponsored car), just a place for people to settle the score.
Yea, I would love to see that!

I grew up in New England and the local drag strip opens every Friday night during the summer for anyone to use. It is a really small fee to race and I definately think it helps. The more discount racing the better!

Not gonna argue that! I believe we should all do our part to prevent them any way possible. Step 1 is to stop street racing, and step 2 is to ban old people and women from driving.

Nope, but I can't name 3 local incidents of rape, robbery, or home invasion either. Doesn't mean they aren't problems, it just means I don't follow the news.

Perhaps someone doesn't get killed in a street race every few days, and perhaps texting drivers and drunk drivers kill far more people every year, but that doesn't change the fact that every time somebody gets hurt in a street racing accident it is a completely preventable tragedy that was caused entirely by somebody being irresponsible and acting illegally.

I've found that sometimes a little hyperbole can go a long way towards getting a point across. Clearly in this case it worked...

In reality I would never truly wish that somebody gets hurt. Of course the best outcome is that nobody gets injured at all. The only way to prevent that though is to stop racing on public streets entirely, and some people only learn lessons the hard way. I can say for sure that I would never have any sympathy for someone killed in their own act of insolence on the street, and you can be certain I'd rather see someone get killed in a fiery accident while racing then have some innocent person get injured even slightly.

youre ranting like a crazy old man so its no surprise you dont know what a meme is. you like what you like and hate what you hate i have no problem with your opinions on street racing. its your desire to justify your statement of wishing a fiery crash and disfigurement on another human being that makes me angry. how's the weather up there on your high horse where you cast judgement on others.

Congrats, you sound really responsible. You may get away with this forever, and you may get into an accident tomorrow. Just because you haven't kill anyone yet doesn't make it any less dangerous and/or stupid.

    pick your battles noob.
Not sure what my post count has to do with this argument? I can tell you were in the debate club as a kid...

ive dealt with people on both sides of this argument since i got my license. i see both sides and i agree with points on both but to wish a young kid dead in a fiery crash is absolutely absurd.
I didnt say die, I said cripple. And in my opinion, that's a whole lot less harsh than what would happen should some young kid happen to run into the street during this race...

just because he likes to play with the toy he has spent countless hours of fabrication, research and hard earned money on.
I'm sorry, because he has money and time into his car, he is forced to street race? I've got as much money and time into my cars as just about anyone, and I take my cars to the race track to enjoy the fruits of my labor.

i wish you were local so i could do brake stands in front of your house at 2am
I'd probably pull out my car and do some burnouts with ya. Nothing wrong with some 2am burnouts.... Just don't drive down my street at 120MPH side by side with some Civic...

so you know, without a doubt, that i hate you
The more street races who hate me the better, because it means I'm making my point to the right audience. Thanks for the validation brah! Sorry that you're so mad though.
