I put the hurt on people every day in my 89L! I'm convinced that with a little clutch slipping the 4 speed carby is faster than a 5 speed manual. It feels like first is taller. My service manual says the 89L only had like 55hp (or maybe it was 58?) IDK, I have pulled a lot of newer cars with it and I just think that is sad. I know some times I'm racing them, but they aren't racing me, but other times it's one of those deals where they are trying to edge me out for a lane or getting on the freeway and I pull them. Big lifted pickup truck drivers hate it when I do that. I pulled on a V8 titan with exhaust last week! I figure if they can't pull a 200K mile 55hp econobox then they should just give up trying all together. Right?

Every once in a while, while I'm sitting at a stoplight, some kid in a beat up Civic, Neon, etc. will rev his engine at me. I love to rev mine back, wind it up to around 4k and then when the light turns green.....I just sit there, lol. They always take off like a bat outta hell, then let off when they see me not moving. I figure anyone who picks on a Festiva is looking for an easy kill.....and they deserve to be messed with. Especially if they're stupid enough to do it in the middle of downtown traffic.
Its even more annoying when I'm driving my Mustang....the worst is usually kids in other Mustangs and Diesel pickups. My Mustang is far from fast, but it's too fast to even consider racing in traffic or broad daylight. The loud exhaust alone will make everyone within 5 blocks turn and look. I don't understand these kids...lord knows I did my fair share of street racing, but we always went out to the middle of nowhere to play.
yeah racing big heavy v8's on the street is very sketchy! But a quiet bpt catches them sleeping everytime..... Ive rolled by cops in boost in the bpt and no one is the wiser.. Its just like wow that car was going fast!? well maybe, but its just a festiva must be seeing things..

oh yeah but mine is kinda loud! raced a wrx yday & really suprised him at first. then @ about 80 he showed me that 300 h.p. i can stay with the 196h.p. si hondas as long as they are stock.
I am in constant race mode in my 89. Have to be, it's for survival. This city is full of really bad drivers, so getting out ahead and keeping an eye on the fast line is the only way to get anywhere without getting caught behind or being cut off or pushed off the road. Driving a Festiva in the city traffic can be done one of two ways. Aggressive or passive, either way you gotta be cautious. I'd rather have the problem behind me than in front of me, so it's pretty much all or nothing. When I'm driving tweak I don't even have to try too navigate traffic, so I can ease up, but Babe requires race face all the time.

But yeah.. I was coming home and passed a parked police car going 77 in a 55 (probably not a good thing to do in a stock auto lol). He didn't even bat an eye. o.O
