So, this is what happens when you get side-swiped by a CRX who's spinning in front of you. The damage looks pretty bad. I'm just starting to pull it apart and see what I'm really dealing with. I'm hoping I can get it straightened out or something, because having to build a new one is gonna be a huge PITA. So far it's not looking good, so I may be looking for a straight, rust-free shell in the near future.

Wow, that sucks. I use the mantra, "Spinning cars have the right of way."
That front end is soft and will probably need reinforced all through the front. Advancedynamics has a reinforced front end that I want to install on my car. You might pound out the shape and make stronger. I can't stand the PITA of redoing the race setup on an acquired chassis.

I feel for you.
I'd just about die if my car got wrecked.

I've had more "firsts" with mods done to this car than any car before.
And I enjoy them all it would be sad to see it wrecked.

I thought the honduh was way off the course and almost in the wall, but he apparently kept his foot in it, caught up to me and then lost control and spun. All I saw was a flash of yellow cross my bow. I slammed on the brakes, but it was too late.

Adding to the mess in the front of the car, it looks like somewhere in its past life it had some major surgery in the front and and the welds from those repairs all popped open, which has made all the crumpling even worse.

I'm not really allowed to do a lot of bracing in the engine bay area because of rules. I'm running a mostly stock B3, so I don't really have a problem with flexing because of too much power. Really the only flex I've noticed was when a CRX bounces off of the front end.

In a spec class, sometimes crash damage can be a wonderful thing. Once its all crumbled, it's much easier to hide certain chassis mods. Lol.

With that said, sorry to hear about your encounter. This is why I keep spare chassis around, but so far I've been very fortunate.

I do have a street festiva, but it's pretty rusty and spare rust-free shells are hard to come by up here in the rust belt unlike way down in the desert.

What you talking about i got 2 rust free frames! But i was patient and lucky. I say buy a new core support on ebay and fix it?

if you chain one end of your festiva to a tree and pull the bent part out with a wench attached to another tree it works i have had to do that twice with my first festiva (buddy ramped it in to a huge ditch and the second time he hit me when i was parked on the side of the road with a monty carlo cuz he was texting) but using a truck and a chain works too
