Your speedo cable is broken, if the odometer & speedo dont work.

Also the temp gauge never really moves on by stock motored festiva.

Cool, thanks! The temp gauge is usually just always.. cool? So I just need a new speedo cable.. I really need to get a Haynes. Man, this is definitely one of the cooler forums/communities out there..

Yeah the needle barely moves most the time even in traffic. Half the engine bay is open to air so our motor is probally partially air cooled.

Yeah, I did notice it move a little when I drove it for a longer period of time, but I thought it was just my imagination. MAN, I've never been more excited to go to a junkyard. Checking one out this Sunday...

I can get a steering wheel and trunk latch mechanism from the same barn i got my car at. there is a 90 parts car and the price is right. Tires in Ca run about $21.

Get a speedometer cable at the junkyard too. When I needed one they had to be ordered and they were not too cheap. Make sure you get one off a manual trans car cause I believe they're different. Welcome to the forum by the way.

I paid $15 for a junkyard speedo cable a couple years back. They're pretty easy to take out, and while you're at the junkyard check out what other goodies you can snag off of dearly departed Festivas.

I know of three festivas in a local junkyard. 1 Auto two manual. We'll fix you up somehow.

Take it back to the back porch, join the 3 string revolution.

TPR950H, It's a simple fix, the spedo cable broke on my first Festiva. A 10mm bolt down low at the trany, rubber plug into the firewall and plastic nut behind the insterment cluster. I can't quite remember but I think the white plastic gear and assembly that fits into the trany just pulls apart to remove the bad spedo cable. It helps to remove the steering wheel to get the dash apart. You are not to far from Banning, Ca. If you need help with parts let me know.

I think I need to care of somethings first (I haven't even registered it yet!) and hopefully we can maybe meet up sometime. I was just at Cabazon last weekend shopping..

mine isn't registered yet either... it has a ton of DMV back fees. I'll register it once I know I can trust it to go more than 50 miles before acting up.
