Absolutly not in IN. Unless you hit it and report it to the police. Then you have dibs on it. They tag it and you have to stay with the deer in transit with the papers. You cant even get caught with shed antlers the you find on the ground. New law this year! If my car was driveable after I hit the deer and I had taken the anters, left the scene and got caught with them I would be fined. Other states may be different.

When I hit a deer (6 pt buck) with my first Festiva the cop asked if I wanted the deer. I declined, I hit it and a F-150 coiming the other way hit it. It was pretty tore up. There was also a second accident at the scene. A Ford Ranger slowed down because of the accident and another truck that the driver was staring at the deer rearended the Ranger. The Ranger then side swiped the F-150. My car ended up with the least amount of damage.
