I agree on all the points made, I think I would have rather seen, something more along the lines of what japan saw, still a ford festiva, but with a lot more options including the GTX and GTA marketed through a different mazda/ford dealer like they did with Autorama in Japan.
I really wish the GTA especially would have sold here, I love that rare beast.

I have an old magazine that mentions Ford's potential interest in offering the twin cam head on the Festiva. It was either Car & Driver or Motor Trend, I believe. Just a little blurb...that never came to pass, like Chevy's interest in a 2.8 V6 Chevette that was also published as a damn teaser.
