Holden Australia also sold the Suzuki Ignis as an AWD variant called the HOLDEN CRUZE . .... essentially the same car but different front.rear ends, but they only came with a 1.5L Engine.

The holden Cruze / Suzuki Ignis i believe were the pre-decessor of the current gen Swift that has taken the world by storm (Engine / Driveline / Chassis are all marked suzuki).

Nice part of the country you are in btw - spent all summer up in Oregon working

Didn't realise that GM Holden rebadged them - I've learned something today

Mind you I'm learning Dutch now that I arrived in Holland on Sunday! - I think I know about 5 words now

The new Suzuki Swift that you can't get in the USA is a pretty sharp looking car - a bit of a Mini Cooper look to it..but much cheaper to buy.

I'm an Engineer essentially but specialise in Contract Management.

I've been to probably 40+ countries around the world by now (some of them have even changed names now!) - not all of it through work but I did get a head start early in life when I was in the Army.

With my skill-set there is quite a demand at this point in time (due to shortage of personnel) and can pretty much pick and choose where I'd like to work (within reason).
Of course this is all subject to change when the bus grinds to a halt but it's been rolling for me since 1995

I've not seen anything particularly unusual in Holland so far - but most of it probably is for Americans.

I saw many more unusal small smart cars in Germany at the start of December.

I'll be out and about with my camera this weekend and see what I can snap up

my 2 cents worth: If you consider the mighty Festiva, and its size and configuration, the Yaris is the closest thing in the u.s.a. right now.
Is it ugly? yes, but it is a small 2-door hatch, that you can get with no frills if you want it that way. Now, to do something about that ugly Finding Nemo snout.......
If it has boobs or wheels, sooner or later you're going to have trouble with it.

                        Hmm. "Tata Motors."

Either they change the name for North America or they could have one heck of an interesting ad campaign!

The Ford Ka and SportKa in Europe is probably the closest to the Festiva.
                          Current cars:

1993 Ford Festiva 5-Speed - Festiclese III - Cousin of the Banhammer - "The Jalopnik Car"
                          1984 Toyota Cressida - 2JZGE Swap, Turbocharged.
2013 Mazda Mazda2 - Exhaust and Wheels (the daily)
                          2002 Toyota Tundra - V6/Auto/2WD - The Tow Vehicle.

Having bought a 1988 Festiva in 1989, they were somewhat inexpensive at the time, but probably comparable to Yaris/Aveo pricing now in America, with similar features. I paid I think around $5800 for a one year old car back then.

in europe there are many small cars id love to have. the fiat 500 is
a cool little car, but who knows if fiat will be back for sure or not.

if i was buying a new car, id probably get a yaris, but i dont like
                                the funky center speedo.

to me cars have lost the personality they use to have. its hard to
                                even tell them apart anymore.
