Especially one that's bigger, cheaper, better looking, and all around more practical.

the smart has been around for alittle while but they didnt alow it to be in america becuase it was to good on gas.... they got rules in america saying that no car can get better mileage then 50 mpg unless who ever wants to buy it is willing to spend an arm and a leg for it. now they put a more gas hunrgy engine in it and it is now legal to sell it in america. :/

I'll never get it...whats Detroit's problem? all I can figure is that the revenue off small cars doesn;t cover the overhead...kind of a shame!

Small cars are coming back. Look at all the new small models in the past few years. Aveo, Fit, Versa, Yaris. Though the Yaris comes close, none have matched Festiva economy yet.

They should put a Hayabusa motor in it. Then I would buy one.

I'd buy a Fit or a Yaris long before I'd ever buy one of these. You would then have a useful car, comparible gas mileage, and money left over. Plus, I believe the Smart cars are rear wheel drive. Not very practical in the snow. That thing would get stuck any time there was more than 3 -4 inches on the ground.

^ I think they look cool, and unique. But it's just the storage that I would miss. The turbo diesel with what 70 - 90 mpg is sweet too. Isn't that what your parents get kid?

i dont know that the epa is trying to make them look bad. they revised all the estimates of mpg based on more real world conditions. a drop of 8 to 12 percent on average from previous estimates.

i like the smart cars, but sad thing is, when the diesel gets 60+ plus mpg and they wont import that model here as they have done in canada. who is the member in canada, who's family member has a diesel smart? i dont recall? he was saying it got like 70 mpg something like that.

the point behind a car so small is to get great mileage. im with you the yaris is more practical in terms of room. but i cant justify purchasing any of these cars when festiva's still exist.

the 08 epa yaris estimates are now 29/36. honda fit 28/34. i wonder how close these are. and if you recall the old 87 chevy sprint, it was rated at 55/58. take one giant step backwards, thats the usa.
