  • How do you like your Festivas ? DISCUSS

Ive noticed various tastes on this forum, and it's left me undecided as to how i want to modify/fix up my 121!

How do you like your Festivas ?
    - Stock as a Rock / Like it left the factory
    - Modified - Doof Doof, Mobile Stereo
    - Modified - All show, no go (custom paint, stock engine, pretty wheels)
    - Modified - As Fast as Possible (Engine Conversion)
    - Modified - Auto-X/Motokana Car
    - Modified - Other

I know several of you have mutiple Festivas, so Im guessing each of them serve a different purpose, or possibly they're 'parts cars'. ?

Thing is, as My 121 is a Carby, an efi conversion + engine swap is a bit harder than in the US as we never got EFI Gen1 Festivas in Australia. So far ive sprayed my wheels red, and put a leather steering wheel in, and a cdplayer/subwoofer. On the weekend however, I removed the sub and Am quite enjoying the lack of ear-punding doof. Im also thinking about ditching the red wheels and repainting them grey/silver for the clean 'OEM look'. I also use my 121 for commuting to and from work daily, so i clock up around 500kms weekly, and I bought the 121 for economical reason to save money. After 3 months of ownership, and 5000kms -- the idea of a 'cleaner' factory daily driver Festiva/121 is more appealing than a BP powered buzbox.

    So, thoughts and discussion everyone!

Both of mine have been basically stock aside fitting additional Festiva options and more modern stereo equipment. While the stock Festiva is perfectly roadable, I'd like to do a few little improvements to make my Festiva a bit more viable as a daily driver. I'd like to do the Aspire swap for the rear sway bar and 13" wheels, and maybe a B6 down the line for a little more power. I definitely need a 5 speed transmission first, though. The 4 speed sucks on the interstate, so my answer is somewhere between stock and fast as possible.

I've kept mine looking completely stock on the outside except the wheels, but they're factory from an escort so they don't even look too out of place... no reason people should know its a little speed demon  under the hood though is a different story
                No festiva for me ATM...

i'm a mix with most of the options, i like having speed, sound, looks, all wrapped up into one

                  1988 323 Station Wagon - KLG4 swapped
                  1988 323 GT - B6T Powered
2008 Ford Escape - Rollover Survivor

1990 Festiva - First Ever Completed KLZE swap (SOLD)

If no one from the future stops you from doing it, how bad of a decision can it really be?

Nothing quite like blowing someones doors off with a complete sleeper. Right?
Mine will be more show than go. At least for now.

I want to paint and am toying around with doing an engine swap. Right now it's stock under the hood, but has a Pride light and grill set along with Tracer wheels. Soooo....

I'm keeping the little motor because I know I'm going to love the mileage.

But it's going to get new rubber and suspension bits whenever I can afford it, because I don't care about going fast in a straight line, I just like being sticky in the corners.

                          So, AutoX for me.

I've also never heard the term motokana. I googled it and it appears to be very small autocross or something of the sort... Is it just not big in the states yet, or did I totally miss something?

EDIT: wikipedia to the rescue. Motokana appears to be what you other-end-of-the-planet types call autocross with handbrake and reverse. It looks fun, from what I see on youtube...
