Ordered from Rockauto last week a crankshaft front oil seal GATES Part #KS14477 {Timing Component Seal 1 7/16" x 2" x 9/32"} ie. notation {I.D. x O.D. x thickness} Thought this was the right seal so bought it.
This is the seal that when you take the timing belt sprocket off the crankshaft it is right there. Last night I pried the old one off and went to put my new one in and obviously it is was the wrong size... so i got on rockauto.com and made sure i purchased the right seal... so just to see... i went to the CAMSHAFT seal drop down box and the GATES Part # KS11612 {Timing Component Seal 1 3/16" x 1 3/4" x 9/32"} is the correct dimensions for this seal.
So i emailed Rockauto last night got an email this morning and fortunately they will refund my money as soon as they receive it back at the warehouse... and so i just ordered a camshaft seal as those dimensions match the seal that i pulled out of the car. HMMM weird, but whatever.
They said that nothing seemed to be wrong on their end...
Just curious if any others had issues with this seal for the B3?
Does anyone happen to have their B3 sprocket off their car to measure this seal O.D. and I.D.?
