  • Barn Find..... And I want it bad

I found this today and talked to the lady that owns it. She said she parked it there in 1997 because insurance was too expensive. She bought it new in 1982 and it only has 17000 and change on the OD which she says is actual. Its all there and has lots of potential. It came with a 4speed which she had changes out with a 5speed. Shes still not sure if she wants to part with it because she loves it so much (yea thats why its so neglected) but would love to see it back on the road. She knows she will never get it back on the road so.............. Im waiting for a price and decision. Keeping my fingers crossed.

        ???

Let's see, I love the car that I abondoned over ten years ago so much that I'd rather leave it in a field to rot rather than sell it to someone who would fix it up and take care of it.

        I don't get it.

I hope she sells it to you. CHEAP!

I do get it, although I don't agree with it. My buddy has a 59ish Impala on his land that his grandparents bought new. It's sat since the early 80's or something. He'll never part with it but he'll never restore it either. Something about nostalgia or the connection to the past, I dunno. I can see why she doesn't want to part with it, but if it was me I would get it runnable at least, maybe find a nice indoor home for it.

You don't see many of those anymore, that's for sure.

                Hey Bob,

If.... no....when you get that EXP, it probably has the 365 series wheels and tires, I think that is the size, a real funky size anyways. Plan on budgeting for new wheels and tires, but in a 14" or 15", because those 365 are expensive, even if you could find them. I used to own a tire shop in the late '80's early '90s, when a lady came to my shop with that car. For a few bucks more she bought new wheels and tires instead of 4 of those particular tires.

                Just a little FYI.

EXP was a cheaper version of the mustang right?

The EXP was a "Sports Car" version of the Ford Escort. Those rims came with the "TRX" handling package. They're 365mm. Not quite 15" but larger than 14" and (as far as I know) they only accept Michelin TRX tires.
