      Agree with your accessment of the problem!
      But getting the low pressure region behind the car to detach, thus smoothing the aerodynamics and lowering the C sub f can be done.

      Yes, it's ugly!
      But creating a bobtail for the back of the fester is do-able.
      Enclosing the rear wheels probably easier than the bobtail.
      Making a "splash tray" to smooth the underside of the fester, as was described by Festyboy, is a little harder, but again probably not as hard as the bobtail.

      I think that the bobtail would give the best "bang for the buck" though!
