          1990

My Dad bought his new white 1990 Festiva L Plus in '90. It had been hailed on at the Ford dealer, so he got it brand new for $5,000. Discounted from over $8,000. So..it has some historical dents.........ha ha
My wife now drives it to work, and I do too occassionally. Runs great, very dependable and fun to drive and park. Actually quick and I think 45 mpg !
So, we have had this '90 for 18 years. It has just under 95,000 original miles.
Lately, I have got the bug to preserve these things as an '88 parts car I did get running, and I seem to find others near me with parts still. Nothing crushed yet, but it is happening all over. I feel should save these .........and I do as I can. Hopefully someday other fuel saving cars will be on the scene that we like as well as the Festiva ! YEAH !
Of course, I do look for good solid drivers too, but only end up with junkers to work on right now ! Still fun tho to get them running .......

I've owned about 10 Festivas off and on since 2004. My first one was an '89 with a carb and 4 speed, and my most recent one is an '89 EFI with an auto...

Three years. I'm the third owner. My sister had it for @ 7years, and she bought it from the company she works for. They purchased it new in '93.

                              ethanol-free gasoline

So I most often drove the other cars, leaving Festiva for the $3.50 to $4 per gallon gas. With sparkplug wires & timing belt change now around 80,000 miles, Festiva gives 50+MPG.
Since the above post over 3 years ago, I now have 95,000 miles on Festiva. With the coming of winter-blend gasoline my mpg has dropped as normal. I added a have-tank ethanol-free gas in my '88 Festiva & the mpg went to 47mpg, somewhat higher than a similar trip would have been with the winter-blend. Later, I added another 8 gallons of ethanol-free & Festiva delivered 58mpg!
Maybe the fuel hose clicked off prematurely, my next tank should show if it did. But I'm hoping for some good results from future tanks of ethanol-free.

cant even get ethanol free here in MN. our standard here has 10% ethanol pre-mixed and i think there was legislation to move towards 20% in the future at some point?

thats strange to me to think theres ethanol free fuel elsewhere in the country!

I have had my 1.8L swapped festiva since 04 so im going on 7 years now, nearing 8
