  • No motativation to continue these days...

Have you ever gotten to the point were your just feed up with your festiva? Tired of working on it, tired of modifying it, having 10 other projects you would rather be spending money on? That is where I am at at this point. I just don't want to continue, but I am not ready to part the car out (even thought I have a list on my computer of prices). I don't want to let it sit either.

    Just thought I would share.

Mine doesn't it has been down for two months. I was on the way to a big car show when my midshalf mount broke and stranded me, that was easy enough to fix, but then I started adding all the turbo stuff on, and it is full standalone megasquirt so that has taken time to figure out. I am just about ready to start tuning soon as I get the unit back, but now I have winter approching, and two other car projects, plus my wife is rebuilding a motorcycle, and I have to work on my dads garage this winter, yadda yadda yadda.

Of course my daily driver festiva is running, and I think I could part out the orange one, and if I ever wanted to modify another one I could with the yellow one.....ugh.

Plus I don't drive the orange one in the winter because of the road salt....so it would just sit again....

I find that there is no time left in the day to work on several things at once, not even considering money. There's time with the girlfriend, time with other friends, time for yourself, time for the car, and other various interests. I've gone MONTHS without touching a wrench, just because there's no time for it, not to mention I'm too poor to afford anything at the moment. lol

The more I debate it the more I want to part the car out, but I would be keeping a number of parts (IE engine, turbo, electronics) for something special ;-)

You could send me the doors (and everything attached to them), I don't really want anything else.
              How much for the doors?

My biggest problem is having enough money, then enough time.
I have $500 car payment (self-inflicted for quick payoff)
and $600 school loan payment (also slightly inflated for quick-er payoff).
So at the end off the month (after every other bill and whatnot) I have like $50.

I guess you could say that my next biggest problem is having WAY too many "plans" for my Festiva:
              Power Everything
              Large Power sunroof
              Full ATH Body Kit
Reupholstered Leather (or leather like) Interior
              Possibly a new Fiberglass dash
with cool gauges and a center touchscreen - (GPS, MP3 Hard Drive, etc)
              New Speakers all around
              B6/ B6T Swap
              Full Metallic Paint Job

So far, all I have accomplished is:
              Gutting it
              Clean the interior
Change the oil, air filter, flush radiator
              Brakes all the way around

              and I've bought:
              New Tails
              Rotors
              Spoiler
              KYB- GR2's all around
              Sport Springs
              Steve GT

Don't do it... You're going to regret it, trust me on this. Park the car for the winter, work on it over the winter, and you'll have it up and running for next season in the spring.

I will work up a list tonight, with pictures and stuff, I may try to sell the car without engine and engine harness first as a whole (maybe ebay), if I can't get what I want for it, then I will part it out. Of course the last time I wanted to do this I wasn't sure, and my wife was very angry for me wanting to tear it apart.

I am going to give it a few more weeks of thought, maybe once I have the megasquirt installed and the car running I will change my mind.

tell us more about the megasquirt when you get it running. my mother won some money at the casino so they were at home thinking how to spend the money and i said for them to save at least $4000 to buy a decent car because i am tired of turning down money making projects to work on our cars.

Is that a cafe racer type? I have a 81 Virago I want to modify, but its way down on my list.

                          Miami Man,

I plan on doing a whole write up for you guys once i have it in and running right. The wiring is the hard part, converting festiva color codes, to protege color codes, to the megasquirt harness color codes. Once that is straightened out the rest really isn't that hard.

Yea, just this month, the festiva started shaking bad in the front end so its been sitting, the dryer broke, my computer died and I missed a week of work from being sick. Even working all the time with no time off I'm still behind on bills and everything else. It sucks. Not to mention all the money I've been spending on gas since I don't have the Festiva to drive. Everyone tell me things will get better......it needs to hurry up, ha
