can you remember the first time you saw a festiva and the thoughts you had about it.... i was trying to think of the first time i saw one, and it just came to me..... it was about 3 maby 4 years ago, and i was meeting some people for breakfast, and this 17/18 year old girl shows up in this old, beat up white festiva.... she said that it had a wiring problem with the headlights, so her and her dad had wired up some 7" rally lights and stuck them on the bumper, it looked so weird, but cool at the same time.... also rust everywhere and as allways, dents too. im am ashamed to admit that my first thoughts where: "what a pos, i would never buy one of those".... but a little bit later i got bit by the bug..... HARD...... and now i love them and it shows that you never judge a book by its cover.... anyways, lets hear those stories.

a little over 7 or 8 years ago a "friend" from work started driving one to work, it was silver and a pile of crap. (it had C-clamps on the valve cover) but i loved it right away. i told him if you ever want to sell that car you let me know. due to the fact that he was a life time drug user, he could never pay his rent. i loaned him a $100 one month and the next month gave him $200 more for the car, i only had it a month or two and ended up reselling it to a guy in need for 400 or so. but always wanted another.

I remember because I thought I was looking at a waterbug with wheels. Early 90's, I was working as a delivery driver at a Chinese place. The other delivery driver had a black Festiva. It had to be pretty new I guess but it was a tiny, ugly, cockroach. Sounded like a tin can and I assumed it rode like one, too. I couldn't believe anyone would drive one. I was driving a 74 Gran Torino at the time and never did appreciate his little waterbug like I came to later in life. But that's the first time I saw one, I know that.

The first time I can remember ever seeing one was about 3 1/2 years ago in a Winn-Dixie parking lot....

...all I remember thinking was, "THAT...IS...AWESOME, It's so small and (believe it or not) cool looking (as far as little cars go). I would love to Supe/Pimp one of those".

I couldn't afford one at the time, but about 8 months ago I started searching for one.
When I found one, the gas prices were really high and I probably paid about $300 too much, but WHATEVER.
I have one now and that's all that matters, and I am well on my way to:
1. Fixing it up.
2. Adding every "Factory Upgrade" I can find.
3. Soup:lol:ing / Pimping it out.

I remember my first experience with a festiva. Not the first time I saw one but...
I was in my first car a 72 1600 superbeetle at a stop light waiting to turn right. I was 19 in 1990. A blue festiva was on my back door revving his engine and dropping the back end with his e brake and clutch. I did the same thing. Light changed, I took off assuming I would smoke him. He ran up my back door as I tried to block then he blew my doors off. A few months later in 1991 I had my first festiva the same color as the one that blew my doors off! :lol:

In 2005, I had just got out of JobCorps and was looking for a car. I was trying to save a grand for a 73 1600 SuperBeetle (props for taste carbon) adn my step dad wanted me to get something more trustworthy. (turns out he HATES bugs, go figure). Anyway, he had a friend who was selling a 91 festiva for one thousand. I was thinking about it at home waitng for a pizza to be delivered. Pizza dude pulles up in a white Festiva. My first thoughts? 'No way am I driving that over a VW.' I was not impressed. Shows what I know.

I saw one new at a ford dealer when I was with my parents shopping for a Deathstar...i mean Aerostar. I noted that they looked the same in front LoL. My dad said he'd rather go find an old pinto and fix it than buy a festiva new. If my dad was still around im sure hed enjoy seeing fast festivas with engine swaps with a big grin on his face...but as-is, a thumbs down.

2 years ago I was working @ 7-11 which was close to my home but wanted a car because catching a bus parties wasn't working so well. Anyways me and my mom started getting along (lived with friends for a year before) again so she agreed to pay fr half of a car I wanted. I got 400$ and started looking on craigslist, looked at a lot of cars but never liked any of them. Then I saw an add for a Black Festiva. Called the girl and caught the bus to see the car. BAM!!!! Looking at the car was the wierdest thing in my life, Ididn't know if i should have ran or just laughed. There it was, a black Festiva with pink, yellow, green, purple flowers all over. The car looked like a garden( wish I had pictures). At first i thought I could peel them off but the imprints would still be there. I just walked away. I do regret it because I feel it would be a great car. Finally got a escort and ended up giving that away and getting a festiva.

I was working at a Ford dealership part-time on the wash rack when the Festiva came in...my first impression was "Wow, that wash was a snap!" I was driving a 1983 Dodge Colt at the time and have loved small cars always, so the look of the car appealed to me right away. When the time came for me to buy another car, I had a choice at the dealership: A Festiva or a Daihatsu Charade. They both drove well, but the Charade cost about $1500 dollars more, so I got the Festy.

I was working at a ford dealership,in the early 1990s only had two come in with problems. One had a turn single switch go bad and another claimed the clutch went up ( it had not but we replaced it under warrenty anyway)

I rememebr thinking " what a throw away car", drive it until something breaks then dump it at the junk yard.

I never thought in 2008 I would be driving them daily.

it was when I was about 12 so I was a little smaller, but still it was fun. I was astonished at how much room there was in them.

my parents have owned mine for as long as i can remember. they bought it before i was born. my dad thought when he bought it that "well, maybe we can get 100K out of it." now 20 years and 360K later... wow!

I was looking for a 2nd car and was driving down this main road in Grand Rapids, MI. My wife and I went by this little dealership that had the 91 sitting out front. The previous owner had put the chrome 13" rims on it. I told my wife "Hey that cars kind of cute. Lets stop and take a look at it." So we stopped and looked it over and took it for a drive. That was it, I was hooked.
I guess it was about 6 years ago now.
