  • New Festiva Owner

Well, Friday I will be picking up my first Festiva. 1990 L, with 140k on and silver in color.

In the process of looking for a new work car so I dont have to drive my RX around my father in law knew someone at his job that was selling a Festiva for $100.

The guy selling the car bought it brand new in '89. For the last 5 years or so its been sitting outside because the car stopped starting.

Looking over posts and using that thing called the search button I've concluded that it could be dirty relays, bad fusible links or maybe something ignition or fuel related.

Previous owner thinks its a fuel pump which would make matters simple because I wouldnt have to track down an electrical problem. So, I'll be changing plugs, dizzy cap, rotor, oil, fuel filter, air filter ... yadda yadda.

Anything else I should add to the list when I start working on it? Anything thats a common Festiva problem?

Congrats and welcome... for $100 you can't go wrong...

I think you have all the basics covered there for what to look at... There isn't much under the hood so it shouldn't be to hard to figure it out... plus there is more than enough information and helpful people on here...
90 festiva BP/G25MR swap, spec v seats, aspire brakes, FMS springs, round headlight conversion with HID's, custom exhaust, fiberglass hood, and a whole lotta bodywork

I actually live in Davenport, Iowa right on the border of eastern Iowa and western Illinois.

The name comes from me being a rotary nut. Having owned eight RX-7's I consider myself a bit of sadist.

Love RX-7's and most things designed by Mazda in general. I've owned everything from an '86 323 to a '03 Mazdaspeed Protege and other things in between.

I'll try and post some pics tomorrow of the car, I really think a $100 is a steal for it.

And yes, the first thing I did was start looking at b6 dohc and b6t swaps when I found the forum. :thumbright:

                          Thanks for all the greetings!
