how many miles on your festy??

just curious about others experience with the festiva. i have a 1989 lx auto trans. i just turned 282k. i just had to(today) replace the ORIGINAL starter. the alternator was replaced@250k the engine still runs fairly strong, i dont really use any oil except through leaks, about a 1/2 quart every 3k miles. do you think i will get to 300k? how many others have and if i decide to change the engine out how much will it cost??? thanks and happy motoring fellow festiva lovers.

282k? Just getting broken in! 300k won't be any problem, and with regular maintenance, should easliy see 400k, maybe even 500k. We have members here that have gone that far.

Wecome to the forums, i think 282 k is awsome. 1/2 quart aint bad, could be vavle cover gasket or oil pan gasket. I am pretty sre you will make it way pass 300 k with the regular maintainence.

The easiest thing to do with the engine would be to swap a b6 ( early 323) into it. Its basicly a bolt in and you get about 20 more hp.My festiva has only 87,xxx miles on it so i can hope that it will last as long as yours.

I have 4 cars with anywere form 80,000 miles to 240,000 miles all run great!

my 91 gl w/funtop has 223k but the head gasket on the orig motor has blown sky high.

What causes the head gasket to blow? Does it blow and suck in coolant or blow out oil....or both? My 88 had 234K in 1999 and did not leak a drop of oil or burn a drop between 4000 miles changes.

the aqua one sits at about 147,000, and the red one, I'd have to look.

My little blue buddy has 132,xxx miles and i've changed the belt twice and replaced an alternator... thats why i choose Ford, all american muscle(even tho it has a Mazda engine) lol

mine has about 315xxx and it burns alittle oil

176,000 and I am not sure , but I think the rings just started to seat this week .

It does not use a drop in 3,000 miles .

Well the stock engine had 173K on it and didn't leak or burn a drop of oil. New engine has about 1200 on it, but the stock trans is strong, its just broken in.

Mine has 137,210.6 miles on it. Everything is pretty much original on the car and it doesn't skip a beat.

Judging by some of the other Festivas' mileages, mine isn't even broken in yet!

132,000 showing,but when I got the car speedometer cable was broken so I don't know real mileage!!!
