i've had an aftermarket tach in my car, if it's set for an 8 cyl. then it will probably read half the actual RPM I.E. the 4 cyl is revving at 2k RPM and the tach is reading 1k RPM, or vise-versa i can't quite remember
1988 323 Station Wagon - KLG4 swapped
1988 323 GT - B6T Powered
2008 Ford Escape - Rollover Survivor
1990 Festiva - First Ever Completed KLZE swap (SOLD)
If no one from the future stops you from doing it, how bad of a decision can it really be?

Yea, I've got an electronic tach (part of a multi-meter type tool) that can do 2, 3, 4, 6, 8 cyl cars. I was checking out my mini-bike once (1cyl), so I just set it on 2 cyl, and halved the result.
Your going to need to double your result, unless there is a switch/jumper on the back of the tach to adjust it. If its after market, you should deff be able to adjust it.~Nate
the keeper of a wonderful lil car, Skeeter.

Current cars:
91L "Skeeter" 170k, Aspire brakes, G15, BP, Advancedynamics coil overs, etc. My first love.
1990 Kawasaki Ninja 250 - my gas saver, 60+mpg - 40k
2004 MotoGuzzi Breva - my "longer range" bike - 17k
FOTY 2008 winner!
