I had the same thing happen, thanks to some idiot mechanic who used the wrong bolt.

It seems like these fail at low speeds (mine died in a cul-de-sac), which explains why nobody's been killed yet.

I have always used tire wear to tell me that it's time to change the LCAs. Excess wear to the inside edge of the tires always improves after changing them out. Keep in mind that the way the front suspension is designed on these cars, really other than toe in, the only adjustment provided is 1/2 degree camber adjustment on stock type strut mounts. The replacements that I have seen have even eliminated that adjustment )including KYBs).
Other than aftermarket eccentric bolts that you can purchase, there are no other adjustments, and I have corrected any problems I have run into by replacing what has always turned out to be failing componants. If you find ANY looseness in a ball joint, replace it NOW! Cheap replacements don't last, as PU 241 says. I replaced a set in a hurry due to failure once with a set of Duralasts from AZ, for example, and had one fail in less than six months! If you are having the work done by others especially, this would get expensive.
