Ah, and so begins another's journey into junkyard addiction. I've been addicted ever since I was a child standing out at the gate waiting for my brother and father to get what they needed. (No one under 16 at the time, now it's 18, in FL that is.)

Sounds like you found an LX. Go back and get the cargo light and the grounded hatch latch switch. Ill buy the hatch latch from you if you want to sell it. Ill provide a pic if you need it.

Deffinately go back. May have tilt steering collumn also, maybe a p/s setup under the hood. C piller covers are also nice.

EVERYTIME in enter a junkyard, festivas or not, I prance around like a little 5 year old with a huge smile on my face. With my 10mm wrench in one hand and my screwdriver in the other. I just love to take apart stuff just for the hell of it!

Report back with all your stories.

So one of the techs I work with kept telling me I should go with him to a JY near his house in NJ. I was like ok..but didn't have much faith since I had previously called this JY and asked them if they had any tivas and they said no.

Regardless we trek out there today. I learned the ettiquette of bring your own tools which the tech I was with had and we walk in. We ask the guy if he has any festys and he was like nope but I do have a few escorts. I am like ok maybe there are a couple things I can pull from them. So we walk out and right in the middle of the lot is a silver 89 festy!!! I am like yippee :-D So we go over there... granted it had been picked a part but I was like a kid in a candy store. I grabbed a right rear smooth tail light, the rear spare tire floor carpet/cover, the door panels with inside handles/arm rests and map pockets, the center console ash tray, roof moldings, and the rear seat back carpet (split back) with plugs!

Of course as I am pulling stuff another guy comes over ( I am by myself pulling stuff the tech guy went to look for stuff of his own) and says, "WOW a woman pulling her own stuff...what you got here a geo metro!" I am sure my face pretty much went from to . I should be use to the "woman" comments by now but I am sorry I can't help it...either way I disregarded the woman comment but a Geo Metro???? I couldn't let this go and I was like uhhhhhhhhhh NO! It's a Ford Festiva!!

Lol! Needless to say my face plus barking Ford Festiva at the guy scared him away!

Anyway it was definitely fun and I so want to do it again! This place was a little overpriced but I know that is because of the location/proximity to NYC but still not bad.

Sorry guys... no foxes or snakes for me. I did see a spider though!!! Lol!!!
Ahh, the addiction is complete. Starts with the car, and progresses to the j/y. Sounds like you had a good day. I'm like everyone else, I guess. Start out with a list, and then just pull however much I have the cash for.

And xlence, would that be, "then he asked me if I had a Geo Metro".....

I had a girlfriend once that changed her own oil and she was right there helping when we changed strut cartridges on her mini van, but never met another woman slightest bit interested in working on mechanical stuff. Most prefer clean fingernails and easy monthly payments.

Hmm, wonder if a Festiva drivetrain would shoehorn into a Metro or Justy or Dodge Colt body. Junker Metros seem lot more common in my area and there is no easily available bolt in engine solution for them. Saw a real nice looking Daihatsu station wagon this morning on Craigslist where timing belt broke and the valves shook hands with the pistons. Hard to tell size of car from pics but looked more Cavalier size than Festiva size. I readily admit I have very little knowledge of Daihatsus.

Smirk a woman no less huh? lol! What was funny was I carried my own stuff out and the tech I was with had nothing...I so could tell that all the men were like is she ok carrything that stuff! In the end it was only fair though...my tech friend had his tool box to carry and I was ok ...everything was light lol!

Will do. what is a p/s setup? I know the roof liner was in good condition when I go back i will check out the c pillar covers. The steering wheel looked pretty butchered but I will see about the tilt steering column.

Well that is me..I liked legos and remote control cars when I was little...girlie stuff got boring pretty quick for me when I was little. I liked taking things a part to see what they looked like.

BUUUUUUUUTTTTT I will say...I do like clean fingernails! When I work in the shop I always wear rubber gloves. Granted I have to tape them to my wrists cuz my hands are too small for the available gloves..but as a woman I HAVE to have soft hands...you men aren't too forgiving if a woman's hands feel like theirs

I soooooo should have used the multi quote function!!! heheh

Wasn't really talking about your sentence, was more thinking of your reaction to the Metro question.

Here is a pic of the hatch latch. It has to have the wire coming from it.
