    Didn't do anything today. AutoZone messed up my parts again. Had to wait another day. Will take some pictures of the "Bomb". Looking better each day. As I said when I started. I didn't get it because it was cheap, or was in great shape. Its just a project that my son and I can work on togeather. Love this little car !!

        Temp 98, less than 10% humidity, 20MPH wind. Installed new Bosch tower wire only. (Previous trouble with short wires). Started it up and went for test run: 75MPH in Third (3rd). Repeat other direction, 75MPH and climbing slightly. Sure it will do 105 flat out if it can be held. The slight rake with taller rear tires helps to wedge it through.

        Sagging springs all sides. Driver side the most. (I'm fat) Will look for cheap spacers in the interm.

        My son will install the rest of the wires when he gets home. Share the fun !!

            I'll try again... Put in the rest of the wires. The old wires were not hard to the touch, and didn't look bad. It really revs now !! A real howler. I think 75 in third (3rd) wasn't bad for a car with almost 200K miles. If I can get them over here, you'll see "Rollo". (Wand of foot).

              Nice, clean looking Stiva. I've had the same problem with Autozone's plug wires. Sounds like you're off to a good start. Keep at it!

                    Made sure when I took the pictures that I didn't show all the dents !! It's lives in the desert so no rust. Just old. Story goes: Lady bought it new and drove it till she passed on. Mechanic friend continued to drive it and make repairs. We're number three (3).

                      After a radiator "Back Flush" by a real pro, in business 45 years, car over-cools. The least little breeze, and the temp guage drops like a stone !! Will replace the thermostat with a 192 degree unit (OEM). AUTOZONE wanted to give me a 180 degree stat, but the computer will probably dump in too much fuel. The computer will think the engine is cold and want to heat it up. Fuel economy goes south !! Since the 4-banger heats-up slowly anyway and doesn't ptoduce much heat, it could be hard going in winter temps. I have a working fan relay, so will go for it. Can always drop back in summer (110F and above for days on end here)

                      Will have my son start working on the body and interior today. Oh!! That fixed luggage rack on top is going to the junk yard next tuesday!!!

                        Don't use Autozone T-stat. They never warm up, instead go to the Mazda dealer and get one for the 86-89 323, you will see a world of difference. Here's the Mazda part # F201-15-171A and here's what it looks like.

                            Nitrogen is more stable than air, but it doesn't make a big difference (if at all) in tires on a daily driver car. The reason nitrogen doesn't leak out of a tire is because the N molecules are larger than the oxygen molecules. However, air has about 78% N and 21% O2 (plus some other gases, although humidity can increase the O2 percentage by up to 5% in some cases). What's leaking faster is that 21% of smaller O2 molecules that can go through the tire pores. This is not problem if you check your tire pressure regularly. If someone doesn't do that regularly, then nitrogen is for them. Cornering, tire wear, and gas mileage are all related to proper tire inflation, not what gas they are filled with (granted some may be more dangerous than others haha).
                            The temperature difference in the tires is negligible, along with the weight. In most tires you won't see an ounce difference. Depending what brand of tires you buy, the difference in weight of the tire may be more than the difference in weight of the fill volume of air vs nitrogen.
                            I have tried both air and nitrogen on race slicks much larger than a Festiva can house and I didn't see any considerable difference it times on several hot laps. I'll keep using air in my tires and check them regularly.
                            I'm not trying to discourage anyone from filling their tires with nitrogen, I'm just warning you that the benefits may not be what the shop selling the N tell you they are.

                                Oscar, your wrong. I feel the difference in all my cars and my 30 Ft RV. The technial specs as stated may be right, but seat of the pants says something else. My conering speeds are significantly improved on all my vehicles. Can't say anything about tire wear yet, but willing to bet since the Nitrogen doesn't leak out as quickly, the tire stays streighter, longer, producing less wear and improved handling.

                                All of this is personal preference. I feel the results and have noted through lengthy observation, the advantages. It took me some time before I changed to Nitrogen, And it was hard to believe the claims I heard beforehand, but after I did it, the change was night and day. Five (5) cars, an RV and a pop-up trailor can't be all wrong. As stated, even my wife noticed the difference !! Something happened!!
