My guess is the head is cracked and it got water in the cylinders, hence the rust in the cylinders, water in the ports and bent rods. That's why pull the plugs out before cranking an engine with water in the cylinders!Brian

i havent really looked underneath the car yet, i will get under there tomorrow or the next day and check that out, when i took the head off i didnt notice any cracks but i also have yet to clean it up, i have a pic but its on my phone when i took the upper plenum off there was 1 runner on the lower plenum that was filled of water #2 i belive, #4 cylinder was the only one that had water in it befor the head came off... i will try to get the phone pics uploaded...03 Chevy S-10 Extreme-4.3

well i finally got underneath, its pretty crazy, the underneath looks like it just came off the showroom floor(with some extra dirt) the pinch welds arent even mangled...exhaust looks almost brand new
i have located a b6 low miles CHEAP... but i will have to ship, or i can get one close for $350 with i dont know how many miles...03 Chevy S-10 Extreme-4.3

i should have done a progress thread but it happend so fast i didnt have time to grab a camera
i found a fellow about 2 hrs from me had a complete engine/trans, and an assortment of other festy parts... $100 bucks so i decide im going for it, the engine he said had about 190k on it when it was pulled from a wrecked festiva, i bought all he had, the engine we had in and running at midnight friday and saturday spent tuning and what not, it runs great sounds great, i need to get some pics of the engine(after i clean it up a but) but i changed the valve cover gasket the oil and the antifreeze... its pretty peppy for 190k...03 Chevy S-10 Extreme-4.3
